Diarra Dia is a Ph.D. student in Political Science at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar. She was also, for some years, responsible for research in Gender and Human Security in a local NGO called MALAO / Senegal. She coordinated activities related to the rights of women and children on issues related to Security, understood in a broad sense. The fight against the proliferation and illicit circulation of Small Arms and Light Weapons remains a daily commitment as well as the issue of women’s empowerment. She participated in several awareness-raising activities on women’s rights and armed violence issues throughout Senegal. She was also the administrative secretary of an association, 2ADS (Association of Support to Social Development) whose headquarters are in Guédiawaye. A structure that works for the socio-educational accompaniment of young people from the suburbs, education in environmental culture. Citizen engagement for her community is her creed.
