Project Overview

Morocco is currently facing the worst drought recorded over the past 30 years due to precipitation rarity. Al Meghzen village is characterized by limited economic opportunities, poor educational infrastructure, rural migration, and severe vulnerability to climate change that has resulted in increasing drought cycles. Accessing usable water is a challenge for several communities within the region. In 2019 there was a conflict between the village of Al Meghzen and the other village about a drilled well in the mountain. The situation does not differ from the irrigation water system in other nearby villages since there is water scarcity. Installing solar panels and equipment for the drilled well in Al Meghzn village requests 77,120.00DH. The project will provide potable water to the households and general public throughout the year. The project will ensure and improve the availability of drinking water to Al Meghzen village as a dry zone, especially during dry seasons. The water is currently pumped out of the well using the fuel and three storage tanks before being pumped again to the houses. by using the fuel, we emit a large amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Switching to renewable energy would make more freshwater available to the population and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: engaging youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty. We recruit and train motivated volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and, by doing so, gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and communities to help each other.
