In Woadze, Ghana, the community’s need for reliable access to clean water was addressed through a project initiated to install water storage tanks. Using the Innovator’s Compass for needs assessment and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) tools, the community identified water storage as their top priority. Building on existing pipelines, three 8,500-liter tanks were strategically placed on elevated platforms to store water during periods of supply. This solution reduces the need for long journeys to the stream, improves productivity, and enhances well-being. The entire community, including an 11-member committee, actively contributed labor and materials, fostering ownership and ensuring inclusive access to clean water for all 2,172 residents, with a focus on frequent users like women and children.
