General Manager, Page Events Center

Distinguished Toastmaster Papa Arkhurst is the general manager for the Page Events Center and a business consultant who transitioned from an exciting career in technology with expertise in e-governance to a calling in people and business optimization. He has close to 30 years of work experience, with 12 years of it working for the Government of Ghana, in and with organizations like the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, the National Information Technology Agency, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been on a considerable number of National Biometric Projects (including GIFMIS, Government payroll, National Identity, and online Passport adoption) and leverages his experience in the above areas to help organizations optimize their brand and improve their efficiency through training and consultancy services. He is an accomplished communicator and TedX speaker who has earned the highest coveted award of Distinguished Toastmaster with the Toastmasters International Organization. He is the first individual to have been awarded this title in Ghana and is one of a select few who hold it worldwide. In 2017 he was recognized by the speakers’ Bureau as one of the top 100 speakers in Ghana. Papa is deeply passionate about leadership, transformation, citizen advocacy, and using business innovation for social good. He believes strongly in using business, information, communication, and technology as tools for implementing sustainable growth and development and this passion is evidenced in his work. He has been a staunch advocate for functional citizenship and the importance of citizens taking an active role in creating opportunities for national growth and a sense of community. Through regular coaching and facilitated training sessions, he mentors passionate individuals, spanning rising leaders to the C-suite, and helps them improve their communication and leadership skills. Having lived and worked in Africa, North America, and Asia, he has developed a genuinely global perspective that frames his sessions and enables him to connect easily with multifaceted audiences. He is a corporate trainer, facilitator, and coach who has worked with institutions like the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and has facilitated both training and coaching sessions in the areas of Business Continuity, Communication, Presentation skills, Leadership Development, Change leadership, Creativity and Innovation, Problem-solving, and other critical soft skills areas. The list of banks Papa has worked with includes Standard Chartered, Bank of Africa, Omni Bank, Stanbic Bank, and the former UT Group. He has also facilitated sessions with institutions like AirtelTigo, Ghana Gas Company, GIZ, and other key organizations. He was formerly the President of the KOICA Alumni Association, and Ghana Pool Association, and a board member of the All Faith Medical Centre, as well as Corps Africa. Papa was formerly the Division Director for Toastmasters District 94, Division G which was made up of all the chapters in Ghana, and the Charter president for the Rotary Club of Accra Speakmasters. Papa served as a delivery partner for Footprints Africa, on a project to help businesses become B-Corp certified. The idea is to help profitable businesses become a tool for social good. He is a mentor for the Emerging Public Leaders program and has facilitated several leadership and communication sessions with them. He engages periodically with NCCE in their effort to sensitize and engage young students in their understanding of their civic engagement.
