Lizzie Gabriel is a highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented Physical Planner passionate about sustainable development and livelihood. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Planning from the Polytechnic, where she cultivated strategies for community empowerment and tools to effect meaningful change. For one year, Lizzie worked at Blantyre City Council as a Physical Planning officer under the Department of Town Planning and Estate Management. Her passion for sustainable development fuels her commitment to making positive change. She firmly believes that planning is pivotal for fostering economic growth, safeguarding the environment, and nurturing inclusive communities. She also recognizes that thriving communities are built on opportunities for individuals and families to secure their well-being, whether through supporting small-scale entrepreneurship or facilitating access to resources. Her recent association with CorpsAfrica has opened a new chapter in her journey. Lizzie has completed a six-week Pre-service Training from 7 August to 15 September 2023. The training has prepared her with grassroots initiatives that empower communities to address their unique problems. As a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, Lizzie is privileged to be part of a team that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives. Having an experience of living in an underdeveloped community, Lizzie desires to reach out to such communities to change their livelihood positively. She has confidence that her passion will be translated into action. Her vision is to bridge the gap between theory and practice, and she aspires to advocate for scalable solutions that can be applied across diverse contexts. Lizzie Gabriel is an active Malawi Institute of Physical Planners (MIPP) member.
