Biography
Fatou is the current Director of the Department of Community Development under the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs. She was born in Gunjur, Kombo South, and currently resides in Kanifing South, within the Kanifing Municipality.
Fatou holds an MA in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. Prior to this, she earned a Diploma in Development Studies from the Pan African Institute for Development in Cameroon in 2002.
She has been working in the field of Community Development since 1996, when she began as a Community Development Assistant, steadily rising through the ranks to become Director.
From 2016 to 2020, she served at the Directorate of Local Governance under the same ministry, first as Principal Decentralization Officer, and later promoted to Director in 2018. In 2020, she was redeployed to the Department of Community Development as Director, a position she continues to hold.
Fatou is passionate about development work and hopes to continue contributing to the field until her retirement.
