Kibuuka Brian is a native of Uganda who holds a bachelor’s degree of Arts in Social Sciences from Kyambogo University. Brian brings a unique blend of skills including problem-solving, conflict resolution, listening, and capacity building into the community. His background in community service at the Uganda Red Cross Society as a Social worker intern, a financial advisor with Prudential Assurance Uganda, and later as a CorpsAfrica/Uganda Volunteer has gained him valuable experience where he learned exceptional customer care and working with communities of diverse backgrounds. Brian thrives in spaces where empathy and critical thinking converge. His ability to empathize with diverse perspectives allows him to forge connections, facilitate dialogue, foster understanding, and work together with individuals from different backgrounds to promote social cohesion in society. During his service with CorpsAfrica/Uganda, Brian facilitated his community to establish 70 kitchen gardens, 5 energy-saving stoves, 10 drying racks, 2 tree nurseries, and 1 market stall. He also empowered community members with knowledge and skills to set up income-generating enterprises such as bakery, liquid, and bar soap small-scale manufacturing. In the interest of promoting the saving culture, with Brian’s facilitation of financial literacy, his community members started up a Village Savings and Loans Association. Brian’s community also implemented a piggery project benefiting over 50 members. To promote the partnership between CorpsAfrica/Uganda and Peace Corps Uganda, Brian with Peace Corps volunteers facilitated Girls Leading Our World Camp 2024 in Lira District, Northern Uganda where 30 girls attended and successfully graduated with knowledge and skills in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, HIV/AIDs prevention, Menstrual Health and Hygiene, Public Speaking, and income generating activities including Liquid soap making, and Crocheting.
