Biography
Margaret Magombo is currently working as a Volunteer Liaison with CorpsAfrica Malawi. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Media for Development from the University of Malawi (UNIMA). She is a passionate development practitioner with over seven years of experience in community development, youth empowerment and project coordination across various sectors, including education, health, agriculture, gender and economic strengthening. Her professional journey began in 2019 when she served as a Cohort 4, CorpsAfrica Volunteer in Zomba, Nsondole. During her service she used Human centered Design (HCD), Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), Community Led Development (CLD) approaches to facilitate impactful initiatives. Among her notable projects were a Mothergroup women led sewing enterprise producing school uniforms and sanitary pads, funded by World Connect, a women’s group soap making initiative that supported hygiene and livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic, funded by CorpsAfrica and a digital learning project that introduced mobile tablets to enhance education access during school closures, Funded by Mastercard Foundation. She also facilitated Village Savings and Loans (VSL) groups, mentored adolescent girls and volunteered in teaching at Nsondole CDSS.
Before joining CorpsAfrica as staff, Margaret worked with different international and local non-governmental organizations. She has worked with JHPIEGO as a DREAMS field officer, DAPP Malawi as the Senior Health Officer and Project Hope Namibia as the Senior Youth Officer. Margaret’s expertise extends to project planning and Management, training facilitation, monitoring and evaluation, and cross cultural management. She is a certified trainer in a number of program curriculum including AFlatoun/Aflateen (financial literacy), Coaching Boys into Men, My DREAMS my choice, VSL methodologies, Economic Activities Selection Planning and Management (EASPM), Siyakha model and LIVES training. Throughout her career, she has mentored the youth, Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and community facilitators to build leadership, financial literacy and life skills. She is dedicated, innovative and result oriented presenting community led solutions that address pressing socio economic challenges.
