Biography

Mahoro Anne Gentille was born in Karongi District, in the western part of Rwanda. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Irrigation and Drainage from the University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Animal Science, and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM). Her final research focused on the “Performance Evaluation of Misting Irrigation in Hydroponic Fodder Production”. During her studies, she served as President of the Rwanda Student Association of Irrigation and Drainage (RSAID), where she strengthened her leadership and teamwork abilities.

Anne has gained diverse professional experience across Rwanda’s agricultural sector. She worked as an Intern in the Irrigation Department of Bella Flowers Ltd, supporting field-based irrigation layouts and drainage designs, and later with the Uruhimbi Kageyo Cooperative, where she promoted water recycling and vertical farming to support smallholder farmers.

Her commitment to grassroots development deepened through her service with CorpsAfrica Rwanda in Cohorts 6, where she led a community-driven Passion Fruit Farming Project in Gitwa Village and commercial piggery farming in Buhande Village, facilitated capacity-building on climate resilience, and mobilized youth and women to create over 100 small businesses across Gitwa and Buhande villages. She also volunteered with Street Bridge Foundation to support children’s education and rural welfare programs.

In addition to her academic and professional background, Anne has pursued continuous learning and capacity-building. She holds certifications in Artificial Intelligence for Career Essentials (ALX Rwanda), Innovation and Entrepreneurial Mindset (USAID Hanga Akazi), Leadership (INALeaders & RSAID), Emotional Intelligence and Communication (African Management Institute), and Community-Led Development (CorpsAfrica). She also participated in international platforms such as the Unleash Innovation Lab on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the International Business Model in Agriculture (IBMA 2024), and the Youth Connect Africa Summit.

With technical skills in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, CROPWAT, CLIMWAT, and hydroponic systems, combined with strong leadership, innovation, and communication skills, Anne is passionate about advancing sustainable agriculture and water-efficient systems. She is deeply committed to fostering rural resilience, empowering youth and women, and building climate-smart agricultural solutions to strengthen Africa’s food security and development.
