Biography

Shafawu Mohammed is a young woman from Tamale in northern Ghana whose journey reflects passion, service, and leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University for Development Studies and has dedicated herself to empowering others through education, mentorship, and advocacy. Since 2018, she has volunteered as a Learner Guide with CAMFED Ghana at Tamale Senior High School, where she mentors students and inspires them to pursue their goals with confidence. Her commitment to social change also extends to her volunteerism with the Savanna Women and Integrated Development Agency (SWIDA Ghana), where she advocates against sexual and gender-based violence and supports initiatives that protect the rights of women and girls.

Her leadership journey includes serving as General Assembly Clerk in her department, Cluster Chairperson of the CAMFED Alumni Network, and interning with the Network’s Programs Team. She is also an entrepreneur and founder of Seat Style Rentals and Events, a growing business that provides event planning and rental services in her community. In recognition of her impact, she was selected as a TuWezeshe Leadership Fellow in 2025.

Shafawu’s interests in community development, women’s empowerment, leadership, and entrepreneurship drive her vision of building inclusive, resilient communities. Guided by this passion, she joined CorpsAfrica to contribute to sustainable, community-driven development initiatives.
