She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Science and Community Services from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. While studying, she had the opportunity to intern with Youth Net and Counseling (YONECO) as a field officer where she focused on facilitating child protection and early childhood development programs. She worked closely with adolescent mothers, empowering them with entrepreneurship skills and educating them on child nutrition. This experience ignited her passion for early childhood development and led her to pursue a Montessori teacher certificate in Exceptional Children, an introduction to special needs education. She became a CorpsAfrica volunteer in Malawi from 2022 to 2023. Through this program, she had the privilege of working with 72 community members. The project that she facilitated revolved around pig farming, which aimed to address household food and financial insecurity. By providing the community with training and allowing community members to take ownership, this project had a lasting impact on the local population. Currently, she is serving as a CorpsAfrica exchange Volunteer in Senegal. Her commitment to giving back to communities and addressing social injustices continues to guide her. She firmly believes that this work not only gives her a sense of purpose but also allows her to grow both professionally and personally. She recognizes that the exposure and experience gained through these opportunities will give her a broad skill set and provide her with intercultural competency – a crucial attribute in our increasingly globalized world. Tamandani’s journey exemplifies the power of passion and determination in effecting change. Her dedication to early childhood development and community service showcases a genuine desire to uplift others and create sustainable solutions. With her skills, experiences, and unwavering commitment, Tamandani is set to leave an indelible mark on the communities she serves.
