Biography

Yalelet Fikrie is from Ethiopia and is a dedicated Hydraulic Engineer committed to advancing sustainable water solutions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Water Supply and Environmental Engineering from the Arba Minch Water Institute of Technology. He also has practical experience in water engineering design and supervision, with proficiency in WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, GIS, EPANET, and AutoCAD, as well as hands-on involvement in community water projects.

During his service with CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia, he facilitated community-led development by implementing small-scale irrigation and water access projects that enhanced agricultural productivity and promoted climate-resilient solutions. He also provided trainings on financial literacy and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), while supporting various community projects that empowered residents with practical skills and sustainable practices. Through this experience, he further strengthened his skills in project proposal writing, grant writing, project management, monitoring and evaluation, community mobilization, and public speaking.

Passionate about advancing sustainable water infrastructure and making a positive impact in rural communities, he is dedicated to community development and climate change advocacy. His work contributes to the success of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through improving water access, supporting livelihoods, and promoting environmental sustainability. He looks forward to continuing to serve communities, discover new cultures, and engage with diverse people on this journey.
