Dokomasho Primary School now has a new, safe, and clean toilet facility, thanks to a successful initiative led by the community to improve sanitation and student well-being. Previously, the old toilets were damaged and insufficient for the school’s 1,100 students, leading to health and hygiene challenges that affected attendance and morale.
The project, identified and prioritized by the community, was completed in just three months at a total cost of 401,950 ETB. The community contributed labor and local materials, while CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia and partners covered the remaining costs. The new facility directly benefits 383 households and indirectly supports 1,532 individuals in the wider community by ensuring a healthier school environment and reducing sanitation-related risks. Beyond infrastructure, the project has boosted student morale, improved attendance, and fostered greater dignity for learners.
