Meet the Third Group of CorpsAfrica Volunteers in Rwanda:
Kayiranga Faustin is from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business from the Universite Lible de Kigali (ULK). He served as a Volunteer in Group 2 and extended his serve in Group 3 with CorpsAfrica /Rwanda. During his time in as a Volunteer in Group 2, he gained diverse skills from the trainings in Human-Centered Design (HCD) & Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), project design and management, and first aid. Throughout his service he worked with his community to implement a sheep family, focus group discussions on mindset change, helped the community to address malnutrition through making nutritious kitchen gardens, addressed human security issues, and created community-saving schemes. Faustin with his community built 200 kitchen gardens where 46 malnourished kids graduated from the red line and are now healthy, and above all else, 200 families have access to a balanced diet. While promoting hygiene and sanitation, Kayiranga facilitated the building of 60 toilets and took part in COVID-19 responses where he distributed 17 handwashing stations, 1,405 facemasks, and 160 bars of soaps in the social awareness against COVID-19. He also rehabilitated 5 houses of poor families hit by landslides and renovated 5 bridges affected as well. Kayiranga worked with the community to stress the importance of family conflict resolution by engaging the community in peaceful conversations that brings unity in family members. From 2014 to 2015 he received training on high cloths fabrication and global fashion by REBORN KYOTO (a Japanese NGO), and since 2015, he has participated in different fashion art exhibitions. He received training by AKAZI Kanoze and readiness trainings by EDC, training of trainers by National ITORERO Commission, training on creative entrepreneurship, and workshop by Ishyo Art Center. Kayiranga has participated in Arc Initiative Business Skills Conference by Sauder School of Business. He has skills in tailoring and fashion design and has worked as the Production Manager and Master Designer in Modern Tailoring & Fashion Design Cooperative in Gasabo District. His duties were to analyze and evaluate the production process and to maintain the operations of the cooperative. From September 2017 til now, he is a permanent volunteer for One Help One Direction Ihumure–Rwanda where he acts as Internal Auditor assigned to evaluate the activity of the organization including donation and its uses. He also analyzes volunteer performance and participates in the future planning programs of the organization. From 2015 till now, he volunteered at Gisimba Memorial Center, located is in Nyarugenge District, teaching kids how to paint and draw, model fashion styles, and plays some games with them, etc. He believes that the strongest people are those who support others even if they are struggling with their own problems. That is why he extended his service, the best way to find yourself is to give back, be in the service of others by contributing, building the better future of Rwanda and Africa.

Aime Hakuzimana was born and raised in Musanza that is a Northern province of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor's degree in Statistics Applied to Economy from Ruhengeri Institute of Higher Education (INES- Ruhengeri /Rwanda), Class of 2018. Aime conducted professional internships in different institutions such as Ruhengeri Hospital in August 2016 and has successfully completed the industrial training attached to Rwanda Revenue Authority headquarters, in planning and research department from August,2017 to October 2017. He also took part in the training of Economic Policy Analysis and using Stata. Prior to joining CorpsAfrica/Rwanda, he was in charge of sales and distribution of office materials at Millennium Stationery LTD from December 2018. He believes that leaving comfort and facing a challenging environment that would provide opportunities for learning and growth. His mission in life is using his skills and potential to excel his performance in whatever he does.

Anitha Impumbya is from Rwamagana, in the eastern part of Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Urban Planning from the University of Rwanda, class 2020. During her studies at university, Anitha served as a Class Representative for four consecutive years. She also took a leadership position as one of the leaders in the Geography Student Association (GEOSAR). Anitha volunteered with LODA (Local Administration Entities Development Agency) where she facilitated data collection on the community well-being and characterizing them among social development groups. She earned a certificate in Essential Workflows, WebGIS, and ArcGIS App for field data collection from ESRI Rwanda in 2020, and she completed a professional internship in Musanze District, where she learned how to serve and solve people’s problems for both rural and urban communities. In 2015-2017, she worked with WAKA WAKA Ltd as Environmental Protection and Sales Officer. She also volunteered as an Enumerator for collecting data from the field through interviewing the people to know more about their life and environmental protection activities at a local level. In addition, during her high school studies, Anitha was one of the founders of the club, Caritas Rwanda, where they were raising and mobilizing a fund and materials to support her fellow needy schoolmates from poor families. Working with CorpsAfrica will help Anitha achieve her future goals of pursuing her studies in Urban Planning and continue to use her skills and knowledge in serving the community. She supports a saying of Steve Maraboli that “a kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal", and she believes that helping others has no cost. The only need is love, passion, and hard work.

Divine Ingabire was born and raised in Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Nature Conservation from the University of Rwanda’s College of Agriculture Animals Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2019). During her time at university, she took different leadership positions. She was a class representative and acted as Secretary of Task Force members, where her duties were all about patriotism and advocacy for her colleagues on different issues. She carried out her academic internship at Rwanda Forestry Authority (RFA). During her studies, she was a volunteer at Never Again Rwanda (NAR) and also worked as a Rwanda Youth Volunteer in Community Policing. Divine has also attended different events and summits, such as Youth Connect Africa Summits, Global Leadershi. She also attended training on Critical Thinking and Human Rights at Never Again Rwanda. Before joining CorpsAfrica, she was a volunteer at Nature Rwanda where her responsibilities were to integrate community with nature by ensuring the application of conservation by the citizen into their livelihoods and to act as a catalyst of change in her community. Therefore, she believes that being a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will help her be a part of the change of community livelihood.

Hyacinthe Ingabire was born and raised in Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from School of Business within the College of Business and Economics at the University of Rwanda. She worked as Sales Supervisor at Goal Way Technology Ltd and as Finance and Administration Officer at Granite Construction and Consult Ltd. She is also active in several initiatives that help people from the poorest community to change their lives. She has been trained about Gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and in improving the lives of young vulnerable children and their caregivers. Hyacinthe believes that serving the community is a flight to happiness.

Marie Grace Ingabire was born in Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the University of Rwanda (Class of 2019) after developing an early interest in the subjects. Grace served as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Volunteer during Group 2, and her service were extended to Group 3 serving in Gisagara. She has attended different trainings including one organized by DOT Rwanda (Digital Opportunity Trust) and another planned by Igihango Investment Group for learning project plans in the Huye district. Grace previously volunteered with media platforms for online media. She wrote stories for Umuryango.com and Umuseke.com and even broadcasted stories for Contact TV. She has worked teaching politeness, respect, school courses, and even religious courses to children at Kimisagara Compassion. These different training and experiences supported her to work in interdisciplinary studies. After her service activities, Grace spends her time reading books, listening to the news, chatting with friends, playing with them, visiting community members one by one to hear their ideas and challenges, etc. Grace believes that being part of CorpsAfrica is a great opportunity for her to change society and make an impact in rural areas.

Elyse Irikumwenatwe was born and raised in Rwanda. He holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Rwanda. He worked as a volunteer in different places and for the Kaminuza Star newspaper during his time at university. In 2019, he worked at Radio Salus for almost four months, where his routine work was to report stories of different rubrics, social and entertainment. He also attended a 6-day training organized by former Media High Counsel with the foremost aim of the training being to enhance the journalist's skills of using sources. He also volunteered for 6 months at Best Family where his duties were to take photos on the field in different events and share on platforms.

Marie José Irankunda was born and raised in Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Geomatics Engineering from the University of Rwanda (Class of 2017). She is a woman who strives to impact change. During her time at university, she was a girl's representative on promoting and advocating for other girls. She was a volunteer in Never Again Rwanda, and attended the meetings and trainings of IMBUTO Foundation where she leaned 7 habits of highly effective people. She also learned about infection disease management (IDM), and is taking part in trainings around international human rights and advocacy strategies. Before becoming a volunteer in CorpsAfrica, she worked with Rwanda Agriculture Board in Department of Land Irrigation Management as a Topographer; she has skills in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Auto-Cad software. Marie also worked on an irrigation project where she contributed to small scale irrigation by teaching people how irrigation systems operate. She also took an opportunity to work on a project of smart dairy around the country primarily conducting surveys of farmers. She believes that serving as a CorpsAfrica volunteer is a great opportunity to empower and make a positive change in a community through promoting grassroots solutions. She identifies with a quote from psychologist John Maslow, “It is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail.”

Joseph Kabera is from the Northern province of Rwanda. He completed secondary school in College de Gisenyi (Inyemeramihigo) in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology in 2013. After he finished secondary school in 2014, he became a Mathematics Teacher in G.S Butete and soon received government scholarship to attend the University of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from the University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology (Class of 2018).He served his community as a Cell Leader of Youth Volunteers in Burera district for 5 months. He conducted two internships. First in 2017, he worked at WASAC in Musanze district in the Department of Water Supply and Distribution. In 2019, he completed another internship in design and site consultancy with L&F Consultant Ltd during the construction of the RSSB project (Batsinda Phase Two Middle Cost Apartments Project). The internship was hosted by RDB. Between 2020 and 2021, he worked in ECE Company Ltd as Site Engineer in Construction of maize and rice shelter and their accessories in Gatsibo District. He is willing to achieve more with CorpsAfrica and he hopes that serving as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will help him be part of solutions to the community.

Arstide Karasankimais is from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Kigali Independent University (ULK). He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Entrepreneurship-Economic with Education from the University of Rwanda. After completing his university studies, he served as a teacher for one year facilitating students of Group Scolaire de Gatenga in 2015. Afterwards he went to work in the financial office of . Arstide also worked for Collection Africa (CAL), known as a recovery company dealing with non-performing assets for five years. Between 2016-2021, he worked as Field Collector and a Debt Collector. Arsitide had experience working with Association of Microfinance Institution in Rwanda(AMIR) dealing with non-performing membership fees. He helped AMIR institution to recover the above membership fees from their members for two years (2018-2019). Throughout his profession experience, he has gained diverse skills from different training such as training from a trauma healing program and a peace education program provided by Association Modeste et Innocent(AMI) in 2009. He participated in a leadership course covering 7 Habits of Highly Effective People organized by Cornerstone Development Rwanda & Vision Conference in 2012; he participated in Completion of 25 modules of the Reach Up organized by Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT RWANDA2013). He participated in training on Business Idea and Opportunity Identification organized by Spark Rwanda and Africa Development Consultant (ADC) in 2014, and also trained in Business Plan Writing. In 2017, he participated in Understanding Renewable Energy and Fundamentals of Starting and Running Business both organized by Yali Network, and in Training on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship for Creativity and Innovation organized by READ in 2019. Arstide participated in World Economic Forum organized by BNR, held at Marriott Hotel in Kigali. He also completed two different USA Online trainings on Understanding Human Rights and Agri-preneurship: A Path to the Future in 2020. This past year, he participated in PsychTraumatology for Future Experts organized by Conseil Protestant au Rwanda(CPR) 2021. He believes that being CorpsAfrica volunteer is such a great opportunity for him to serve and be a part of change he dreamed to see in his country’s community.

Emmanuel Manishimwe was born and raised in Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology (Class of 2020). He carried out an academic internship at LEAPER LAB from June - December 2019 and was part of Space and Telecom Fellowship conducted there. Apart from that, Emmanuel attended different trainings like Digital Access to Research by Research4Life in partnership with UN-Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries hosted September 2018 in Kigali.Emmanuel is interested in technology-based innovation, leadership, and community problem-solving activities.

Gedeon Masengesho was born and raised in Rwanda's southern province. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Rwanda. He served in Group 2 in Rwanda and worked as a Youth Volunteer at the University of Rwanda. Gedeon participated in a humanitarian aid conference organized by Red Cross, training of African Leadership (Huye 2019), attended the Human Right Universal Declaration (Kigali 2018), and before becoming a Volunteer at CorpsAfrica, he acquired training in disaster management. He served as Law and Research Intern in Huye Intermediate Court (IC HUYE) and worked as a Law Student in Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Rwanda, assisting economically disadvantaged people to access justice through giving legal advice, mediation, and drafting court submissions free of charge. He also participated in Rwanda Bridges to Justice. In addition, Gedeon conducted the final project to the legal protection of the environment vis-a-vis the management of solid waste in Rwandan urban areas. Not only that but he also acquired experience from day-to-day community activities and projects implementation such as pig farming and other micro-grants. Gideon wanted to extend his service as an additional opportunity to serve in CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Group 3.

Jean Migambi was born in Southern province of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Rwanda. He was a teacher at GS APACE in 2015. Afterward, he became the Sales and Marketing Manager at 1000 Hills Distillery and in charge of mobilization throughout the city of Kigali. He was a Sector Learning Facilitator at VSO Rwanda where he supported 300 English and Mathematic Primary Teachers, 30 Headteachers, 10 Sector Education Officers, and District Education Officers. Under the BLF Project, he supported the teachers and educators on Leadership for Learning, Teaching Methodology, and Inclusive Education in Nyabihu district. He also worked at DOT Rwanda as a Community Leader and Business Coach in Ngororero District. While there, he received many certificates including Social Media Marketing, Internet Health, Environment Awareness, Community Development, Project Management, Business Plan, Landscape Assessment, Business Plan, Team Management, Migambi was elected by His colleagues as Community Leaders President at DOT Rwanda. In 2016, he founded the project called Made in Rwanda Market, where he wanted to support low-income producers of Made in Rwanda Products, especially girls, women, and Young Entrepreneurs. During the project, he supported them to create a platform of exhibition in order to help them to build their network sell their products and make Money. He also prepared different campaigns to promote Made in Rwanda in different areas of Rwanda. In the pandemic where COVID-19 stopped exhibitions, he supported 500 Made in Rwanda producers to promote their products as they made money to survive. He also trained them on how to use social media so that they can promote their products and make money. Migambi served as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Volunteer/Rwanda from November 2019 in the second group and his service were extended in the third group in Gicumbi district where he is facilitating his community in different impactful activities. He is a trainer and entor he works with different organizations in training and mentoring their beneficiaries. He believes in hard work and if social media is used well it can change the lives of many people. He likes giving back to the community as he believes that this country will be built by us, Young People.

Honorine Ndakwizeye Mpuhwe was born and raised in the Eastern province of Rwanda; she holds a bachelor’s degree in Travel and Tourism Management from the University of Tourism Business (Class of 2021). She did research on cultural event contributions to MICE tourism in Rwanda. She also studied Computer Science in high school and holds an ICDL certificate.
Before joining university, she worked for AVSI Rwanda as a Social Assistant for 2 years, where she was in charge of following the day-to-day life of over 90 beneficiaries, in Kageyo sector–Gatsibo District. The benficiaries were very vulnerable and her work helpedto change and improve their life from one level to another in education, health and finances. She gained some experience and has been trained in problem-solving, mental health protection, and complete meal preparation. Apart from that, she volunteered to help with data entry at Muhura sector, helping the office transfer all data from hard copies to digital files. And also, at different times, she volunteered in deputy members’ elections and presidential elections campaigns. After joining university, she started helping people, especially children from Rubabu through MHF, by providing basic needs that collected from different people who were willing to help. Through CorpsAfrica she expects to reach and listen to a lot of vulnerable people, restore their hope, improve their mindset and help them build their bright future. Because she believes that in every bad thing there is a good thing and everyone has something to give. This life will always be tough on us, but we can start where we are, use what we have, and create a better history and happy ending. |
Andre Muhakwa holds a bachelor's degree in Crop Science from the University of Rwanda. He is from Nyaruguru in the Southern province of Rwanda. He served as a Youth Volunteer in his community where he facilitated programs to teach his community the best practices that would help to prevent the spread of coronavirus. He took part in different community development opportunities including work as an Enumerator in LODA Household profiling where he made profiled 500 households families. He also prepared over 25 hectares of radical terraces in Nyaruguru district as Field Technician, and he worked also as an Enumerator of the Establishment Census in National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR). He continues to use his talents and strengths to further his goals and his organization and to empower the community.

Anaclet Muhire was born in Northern province of Rwanda. He holds a B.Sc. with Honors in Horticulture Production from the University of Rwanda (Class of 2019).He completed a professional internship in agriculture in Israel where he was awarded a Diploma in Agriculture through Kinneret College of Israel for the period of 14 months. He volunteered with Red Cross in its blood donation program, and continues to be reliable blood donor since 2014. Anaclet has a passion to give back to his community, and he was a part of youth volunteers in his community where he facilitated, mobilized and taught people the best practices to prevent & cope with the spread of COVID-19.

Pascaline Mukanyangezi was born and raised in the Southern province of Rwanda. She holds an advanced diploma in Forest Resources Management from Rwanda Polytechnic IPRC Kitabi. She worked as a Minister of Gender, Promotion, and Protocol in the Student Council 2019-2020. They provided guidance and addressed gender-related issues, empowered female students and promoted gender equality values. Her most memorable and proud work was in 2017 where she was an operator on the mission of terraces making and contour farming in the hills of Nyanza, and in 2019, where she took part in forest harvesting and forest plantation management in Kitabi. Pascaline is a dedicated, hardworking young female with skills in forestry. She is a CorpsAfrica Volunteer with a passionate heart of serving and giving back to the community and nature who believes in social change from low to high-level wellbeing. Jean Damascene Ndayisenga was was born and raised in the Southern province of Rwanda. He completed a bachelor's degree in Horticulture from the University of Rwanda’s College of Agriculture, Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2019). From May to November 2017, he volunteered as an intern at Stand Together for Change (STC.ORG) at Muhanga district. During the internship, he learned how to prevent malnutrition for handicapped children, how to reduce poverty to their families, and how to fight against violence to the handicapped children. During 2018-2019, he worked with Pride Rwanda Ltd as a Site Technician by helping the farmers to maintain the production of their coffee crops.From June to August 2019, he participanted an in an academic internship at HoReCo, where he worked alongside farmers to growing rice at Jabana swamp. He joined Rwanda Youth Volunteers to carry out the help to vulnerable people. His value is to help anyone who wants help. He believes that everyone is happy when they do good for someone else. But sometimes in our journey, we have been facing different challenges, many of us immediately give up. His favourite quote is, “I never lose, I either win or learn". so, this quote helps me to be persistent.

Cecile Niyimenya was born and raised in Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Rwanda’s College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2017). Prior to joining CorpsAfrica, she conducted a professional internship in Kirehe district where she learned how to work with the community, helping them to find solutions to their problems and motivating them to work together as a team by working as Cooperative Support Officer in 2018. She also completed an academic internship in NAEB Department of Monitoring and Evaluation. Afterward, she also had time to take part in Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator in their 4-week program called English Learning Bridge, where she learned self-reliance and work-readiness behaviors at the beginning of 2019. Towards the end of 2019, Cecile joined CorpsAfrica as a Volunteer and served in the remote area of Ngororero District for 20 months. She facilitated and empowered local communities by working together in different activities, helping the community to be more resilient, and implementing the sewing project with her community. In October 2021, Cecile extended her service to serve in the third group of Volunteers in Rwanda, this time in a remote area of Bugesera District.

Eric Nkorerimana was born and raised in Rwanda. He graduated from the University of Rwanda’s College of Arts and Social Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in History and Heritage Studies (Class of 2018). He attended the Global Leadership Summit held at the University of Rwanda. Eric also worked as a journalist on the Radio Rwanda - Huye branch for a program of culture and community outreach, which increased his communication skills and passion for being a voice of the voiceless. He also worked as a field facilitator in community digital skills delivery in Gisagara district as Digital AmbassadorHe was recognized as a social innovator among DOT Youth Daring Innovators during the DOT - Rwanda Gerakuntego Competition 2019. Eric worked as an Assistant Researcher in DOT-Mastercard Foundation project called “Speaking Out, Reaching Out”. During his time with the project, Eric and the team collected data and analyzed how COVID-19 might affect small businesses owned by youths. Eric served two years as a Volunteer in CorpsAfrica/Rwanda - Group 2 where he worked with rural communities in Bugesera district. This opportunity increased his passion in creating lasting impact to the community. Eric extended his service in northern region of Rwanda, Rulindo district, in order to continue to work in community development through citizen involvement. He works towards behavior change to create a lasting impact in communities. According to him, doing small actions that remain in hearts and minds are more satisfying than any other thing in the world.

Christian Nshimiyimana is certified with A2 in Mathematics, Economics, and Computer science at Gikonko Secondary School. Christian graduated from RP IPRC Kigali with an Advnaced Diploma in Information Technology. Since childhood, Christian grew curious and motivated to explore technology as he believed that technology is the best catalyst for development.He worked at Safi Universal Link the leading mobility company in Rwanda, where he was responsible for troubleshooting a variety of technical issues for staff, assisting with server maintenance, installing a wide range of equipment, replacing parts as required, conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment, and monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks, he assisted in the development and rollout of new department practices and served the whole institution with any kind of IT support they needed. In 2021, Christian joined Corps Africa as a volunteer to give his hand in supporting the development of less privileged communities.

Angelique Nyirabizeyimana was born in Gicumbi district, in the Northern province of Rwanda. She graduated from the University of Rwanda in Irrigation and Drainage (Class of 2019). After completing her university studies, Angelique participated in a professional internship with Bridge2Rwanda (B2R) teaching Farms about conservation agriculture and Foundation for Farming (FFFs) principles. She also received formal training about community services, faith, personal and professional development. She served as an Agriculture Extension Intern with the Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities in the Gicumbi district. She also served as a Supervisor in Reserve Force in Nyabihu and Gicumbi districts working to prevent soil erosion and taking mitigation measures for climate change. Angelique has conducted academic internships at Bralirwa and Minimex (Bramin) Ltd. Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in agriculture transformation in Nyagatare district. Since college, she has become passionate about volunteering and being in support of others. This spirit had grown up at her university studies where she was a Treasurer of the Social Affairs Group, a group committed to supporting vulnerable students, giving food to poor patients from hospitals and health centers. They also provided mental health support in the form of counseling sessions to prisoners finishing their terms and helped them to smoothly integrate back into society. She believes that serving as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will give her opportunities to contribute in building a sustainably-developed society especially in rural areas where vulnerable people need effective support.

Alexandre Rurangwa is from the Western province of Rwanda in Ngororero. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Governance and leadership from the University of Rwanda, (Class of 2018). He volunteered with the Red Cross in its blood donation program in high school and university. After completing his degree, he joined Rwanda Youth Volunteers and acted as an enumerator in household profiling. He also worked as a Secondary School Teacher of History and Geography. Alexandre served as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Volunteer from November 2019 in Group 2, and his service was extended in the Group 3 until the end of 2022. He cherishes volunteering as the best way of giving back to communities in need and being fruitful to others. He believes that helping others expecting nothing in return heals the soul and brings self-satisfaction in life. He is so glad of working as a CorpsAfrica volunteer to help communities in need to overcome their problems and bring back their hope for a better life.

Sandrine Tuyisenge was born and raised in Rwanda. She is passionate about serving others with an interest in community development, empowerment, and project management. She holds a diploma in Hospitality Management from the Akilah Institute.After graduating, Sandrine joined Davis College and the Akilah team where she worked as the Student Affairs Officer. In her role, she provided guidance to student leaders, empowered them to create positive student experiences, and played a major role in the implementation of the students' leaders initiative. During her studies, Sandrine served as the Student Guild Representative to her institution and received a Leadership Award Certificate in recognition of Exceptional Leadership and Devoted Service to the Student Guild Cabinet. She also served as the Student Leader in Charge of Education and Discipline. She facilitated the Everybody Reads Rwanda program initiated by the US Embassy-Rwanda, which aimed to promote a reading culture in Rwanda and also participated in the PeaceCorps-Rwanda workshop called Let Girls Work program as a panelist. Apart from that, Sandrine is also a Mastercard Foundation Alumni from the Hanga Ahazaza program, and she is currently serving in the Mastercard Foundation Alumni Network Committee. She has attended different trainings and conferences such as training on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, on Gender Equality, Vision Conference, and eLearning Conference. She was also part of a small social change project as the Team Leader with the aim to contribute to the reducing school dropouts in her school community. She believes in God, humanity, and servant leadership. Her favorite quote is "You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you." She also believes that serving others through volunteering is changing people's lives, giving back to the community, and contributing to the development of the country. In the future, Sandrine hopes to continue her studies and start a career in project management and continue to use her skills and experience in community development.

Adeline Umutoni holds a bachelor's degree in Crop Production from the University of Rwanda (Class of 2019). Since then, she interned with Field Operations Impact team at One Acre Fund and assisted in evaluation of strategies executed on field with smallholder farmers. Later, she joined Rwanda Agriculture Board - Twigire Muhinzi program where she served as Frontline Agents’ Trainer and dedicated herself to increasing farmers’ levels of production through application of good agriculture practices. Adeline also developed passion about youth development after being a member of several organizations like Aiesec and Resonate. She is eager to use her past experience and CorpsAfrica’s approaches to motivate and inspire the community in identifying their potential for sustainable development.

Redempta Uwase was born and raised in Rwanda. She holds a B.Sc. with Honors in Horticulture from the University of Rwanda. She is a member of Agri-research organization in the University of Rwanda’s College of Agriculture Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM) - Busogo Campus, which envisages the development of rural agriculture by empowering rural farmers for self-reliance on their production also involving young Rwandans in agriculture. She has attended different conferences and trainings like leadership training of Young Leaders in Countries of Great Lakes. She was Agronomist of QUSAI Agriculture Limited Company in Bugesera district. She also served in Group 2 in Corps Africa/Rwanda in aremote area of Kayonza District. She facilitated her community in their daily activities to empower them by using Human-Centered Design and Asset Based Community Development approaches to address community needs. She organized different meetings where she addressed different issues such as education, agriculture, and health especially nutrition, hygiene, sanitation and mobilized her community the best practices to prevent themselves from COVID-19, and provided preventives materials. She implemented a goats farming project with her community. Currently, she extended her CorpsAfrica service, and she was deployed in a Southern province in Gisagara district to continue serving and empowering people in a rural area in building their development and becoming part of the solutions in her site. Her vision is to bring a change in the community she lives in and she thinks every change starts from the dream and lets all of us dream together for the changes we want in our communities

Ulysse Uwayo was born and raised in the Western province of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences from INES Ruhengeri (Class of 2020). He completed high school at Petit Séminaire Saint Pie X Nyundo in Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry. By June 2021, Ulysse was full registered professionally as Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in Rwanda. He completed internships at different Hospitals such as Kibagabaga District Hospital, Ruhengeri Referral Hospital, and Kigali University Teaching Hospital. Before his graduation, Ulysse worked at Rwanda Biomedical Center’s Department of National Reference laboratory in partnership with CHAI for 3 months collecting data in highly remote health facilities for diagnostic network optimization. Prior to joining CorpsAfrica, he was the Head and Site Manager of Umuti Packaging, a green company that uses leftover banana and plantain trunks to create eco-friendly paper packaging. Through CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Ulysse expresses his eagerness and dedication to the service of volunteering: ”It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”. -Mother Tereza

Apronie Uwajeneza was born in the eastern province of Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Cooperative Management and Accounting from the University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (Class of 2021). Before attending her college, she volunteered with helping people make bricks, build houses, and learn how to prepare a balanced diet. She is passionate about supporting and finding solutions for needy people, during her studies at college she was a part of a group that started an initiative to promote saving culture. She studied Cooperative Management and Accounting to continue helping people through sensitizing them, working together, and using their own resources for their socio-economic development. Prior to joining CorpsAfrica, she completed a professional internship at Union des Cooperative de Muvumba (UCORIVAMU), where she learned how to work with communities, and she helped them to find solutions in the cooperative. She believes that being a CorpsAfrica volunteer will help her accomplish and meet her dream of facilitating community and being a catalyst to their development.

Claude Uwimana was born and raised in Nyanza district, in the southern province of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management (Class of 2019) from the Department of Geography and Urban Planning within the University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology. He conducted an academic internship in the office of a one-stop center in Gasabo district specifically in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). He holds a Certificate of Nature-based Solutions for Disaster and Climate Resilience developed by United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Partnership for environmental and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR). He also held a Certificate of Introduction to Sustainability on behalf of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Coursera. He is an adviser and a member of Rwanda Youth Environmental Actors (RYEAs), an association aimed to raise the awareness of environmental protection through the local community. In 2019, he joined Rwanda Youth Volunteers in community policing where he worked as an enumerator in the categorization of people in their specific classes. In 2020, he served as a Youth Volunteer together with City of Kigali and Rwanda National Police to fight the spread of COVID-19. Before joining Corps Africa, he was an employee in Gorilla Hotel and he followed an English course for tourism and hospitality prepared by Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. He has the ambition to raise awareness of how we could use our resources to grow more economically but in harmony with nature so that our children’s children will leave this planet peacefully and live no one behind. “So let us act now to slow climate change, feed the world’s hungry and protect the planet that we all depend on.”
