Tucked away in the heart of Baringo lies a quietly thriving gem—Fresh Wrap Limited, a department under the Seed Saver Network, turning the region’s abundant fruits into healthy, naturally dried snacks known as Organic Sunny Bites. More than just a fruit-drying initiative, Fresh Wrap is a story of empowerment, sustainability, and community-driven development—an embodiment of CorpsAfrica’s mission to catalyse positive change from within.
The idea sprouted from a simple vision: to provide high-quality, 100% natural, sun-dried fruits with no added sugars or preservatives. But it grew roots deeper than nutrition. The initiative set out to create consistent market opportunities for agroecology farmers practising sustainable agriculture. With every banana, mango, or pawpaw slice laid out under the sun, Fresh Wrap is building resilience—not just in the environment, but in the lives of local farmers and youth.
When I first encountered the group during my integration as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, only the structure and a few pieces of equipment stood ready. But the dream was alive. I joined the team just as the first fruits were being prepared, learning hands-on how to peel, slice, and arrange them on trays to dry in the golden Baringo sun. From weighing to packaging, I gained skills beyond food processing—they were transformation tools.
Soon, I began sharing these skills with local youth from Lamalok village. Today, several of them work at the factory as casual labourers, earning daily wages from work they love. Their journey mirrors the CLD model in action: community-driven learning, local solutions, and the ripple effect of shared empowerment.
Why choose Organic Sunny Bites? Because they’re more than just a snack. They’re a taste of sustainability, a bite of opportunity, and a celebration of what communities can achieve when they believe in their own potential.
At Fresh Wrap Limited, we’re not just drying fruits—we’re preserving futures.
