Biography

Eden Abraham Gashahun is a dedicated and passionate public health professional and community development advocate. Born and raised in Dessie, Ethiopia, she graduated in 2025 with two bachelor’s degrees: one in Environmental Health from Hawassa University (regular program) and another in Business Management from Pharma College (extension program), earning distinctions in both fields.
During her Environmental Health studies, Eden gained extensive hands-on experience through internships and volunteer work. She served as an Environmental Health intern in the Sustainable WASH Program with People in Need (PIN) Ethiopia, engaging in community problem identification, health education, and sanitation-focused community engagement initiatives. Eden also worked with GAIN Ethiopia as a vendor trainer, delivering food safety training sessions for vendors in Hawassa’s Old Market. These sessions helped reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses and improved community health practices. Additionally, she was actively involved in community-based training programs at Hawassa University, serving as both a trainer and team leader. In this role, she assisted with community-led programs, monitoring and evaluation activities, sanitation campaigns, and the collection and analysis of community health data.
Her leadership extended to serving as a Human Resource Management Volunteer for the Ethiopian Health Professionals’ Students Association (EHPSA) at Hawassa University, where she organized and supported events, workshops, and community health campaigns.
Currently, Eden is serving as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer in Ethiopia, focusing on community-driven development initiatives. She is deeply passionate about helping communities thrive, a commitment closely tied to her Environmental Health background. She believes in using her knowledge and skills to promote sustainable solutions that improve public health, sanitation, and quality of life in underserved areas.
Outside of her professional work, Eden enjoys singing and playing musical instruments and creative outlets that bring her joy and balance. Her passion for both the arts and community service reflects her belief in holistic well-being and the importance of nurturing both mind and spirit.
