Biography
Ayenew Mebratu was born and raised in Ethiopia. In 2021, he earned a Bachelors Degree in Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development from Gambella University. Driven by a passion for humanitarian service, he began Volunteering with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, contributing to community resilience and emergency response initiatives. Building on this foundation, Ayenew served for two years as Disaster Risk Reduction Expert in the USAID Response Leadership Activity Fellowship Program which was implemented by Bahir Dar University in collaboration with 11 public universities and 7 TVET institutions. In this role, he focused on disaster risk reduction, capacity building, and leadership development to strengthen community preparedness.
Currently, Ayenew is serving as a Cohort 3 Volunteer in CorpsAfrica Ethiopia, bringing energy, expertise, and commitment to grassroots development projects. Through this service, he continues to empower communities, promote sustainable solutions, and advocate for resilience against future challenges. Ayenew believes that ”Humanity is beyond all’’
