Biography

Amanuel Adisu Labena earned his Bachelors Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Control Engineering from Hawassa University. Throughout his academic journey, he actively engaged in community service, including tutoring high school students, maintaining local roads, and assisting elderly community members with daily tasks. In his fourth year, Amanuel developed a GSM-based Smart Generator Monitoring System designed to detect faults in generator systems and instantly alert operators via mobile phone, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability. During his fifth year, he completed an internship at the Hawassa Millennium Moha Soft Drinks Factory in the machine systems maintenance department, where he initiated a mini-project to improve empty and filled bottle inspection processes. His final-year capstone project, a Solar-Powered Automatic Grass-Cutting Machine, was a community-focused innovation aimed at reducing time, energy, and costs in lawn maintenance.
After graduating on December 31, 2020, Amanuel operated a small-scale retail business in his local community between 2021 and 2022. In 2023, he joined the National Volunteer Program under the Ministry of Peace, serving six months in Asella Town, Oromia Region. There, he contributed to addressing community challenges, facilitated peacebuilding discussions, and received a National Certificate of Service in recognition of his contributions. From 2024 to 2025, Amanuel worked with the Ethiopian Statistics Service (ESS) as an enumerator, gathering agricultural sample survey data across the country. On July 5, 2025, he joined CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia as a trainee and successfully completed his Pre-Service Training (PST). He is now a CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Volunteer, ready to serve his community and create meaningful impact.
