Biography
Edina Mponda is a hardworking and dedicated young woman with Bachelor of Social Science in Social Work from the University of Malawi. She is passionate about community development, child protection, and youth empowerment. Before Joining CorpsAfrica, Edina worked as an intern at Passion Center for Children in Zomba.
During the internship, she conducted child assessments and assisted in conducting school visitations, home visitations, physiotherapies, and parenting sessions. She also facilitated educational indoor play, after school activities, and was involved in case management. In 2023, Edina served as intern at Community Development Office in Mangochi, where she facilitated trainings on Village Savings and Loans (VSL). She was also involved in case management, particularly when working with Social Cash Transfer Department. Edina has also experience of working with Malawi Aids Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) in Mangochi, where she helped facilitate teen club and guardian sessions. At MACRO, she was also involved in case management, and data entry.
These experiences equipped her with strong skills in facilitation, case management, community engagement, collaboration, team work, assessment, advocacy, child protection, and communication. She loves mentoring students by supporting them with their schoolwork, encouraging them to work hard, and guiding them to pursue their goals with confidence. Edina enjoys reading, writing poems and reflective journals, and listening to news.
Her passion for community development, inspired her to join CorpsAfrica. As a volunteer, what excites her most is the opportunity to serve, learn, and grow while making positive impact in the community and contributing to sustainable development. She is eager to work with the communities to empower them to identify their needs and solve their problems using their existing resources to improve their livelihoods, alleviate poverty, and enhance resilience.
