Biography

Leonard Mwale holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Malawi (UNIMA). Before joining CorpsAfrica, he served as Program Coordinator at Futuristic Hope Action, where he worked closely with communities in Kasungu, Malawi to implement green initiatives that support climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Leonard is passionate about community led development and aligns strongly with CorpsAfrica’s redefined approach to development. He believes that every individual has the potential to identify solutions to their own challenges, and that by nurturing these capabilities, communities gain the confidence and knowledge to address future problems independently. To him, true empowerment lies in fostering ownership when people are empowered, development becomes sustainable. As the saying goes, “Teach a person to fish, and you give them an occupation that will feed them for a lifetime.”

Outside of his professional interests, Leonard enjoys sports, particularly playing football in his free time. He is excited to be part of this CorpsAfrica cohort, viewing it as a transformative journey where he can serve communities in a unique way by placing them at the center of solving their own challenges by making use of the resources available within their communities.
