Biography

Onex Zacharia is a dedicated and enthusiastic young professional with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Malawi – The Polytechnic. His academic background equipped him with a strong foundation in nutrition, food security, and community development, which he continues to apply in both professional and volunteer work.

During his time at university, Onex served as President of the Science for All Innovation Club, a platform established by the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust across public universities in Malawi. In this leadership role, he successfully coordinated projects, managed budgets, and spearheaded initiatives such as awareness campaigns, fundraising activities, and career guidance programs for secondary and university students. These experiences sharpened his leadership, communication, and project management skills while reinforcing his passion for empowering young people and communities.

Professionally, Onex completed his internship with the Nutrition and HIV/AIDS Office at Chikwawa and Blantyre District Councils, where he contributed to health and nutrition interventions aimed at improving the well-being of vulnerable populations. His role exposed him to practical aspects of program implementation, monitoring, and community engagement, deepening his commitment to grassroots development work.

Motivated by his passion for service and sustainable development, Onex has joined CorpsAfrica as a Volunteer, where he is eager to collaborate with local communities in identifying challenges, co-creating solutions, and building initiatives that enhance nutrition, food security, and livelihoods. His approachable nature, combined with his leadership experience and technical expertise, positions him as a change-maker dedicated to making a long-lasting impact in Malawian communities.
