Biography

Shazmin Nyamvula Barua, also known by her pen name Soulful Azure, is an International Relations graduate and policy analyst passionate about youth empowerment, human rights, and community development. She is the Co-founder of New Dawn Organization, a Community Based Organisation in Kilifi, Kenya, that addresses youth unemployment and supports young mothers. With strong experience in research, policy analysis, and community coordination, Shazmin brings both analytical and creative skills to her work.

Through her research and her writing, she seeks to inspire lasting change and give voice to stories that matter. As she writes, “My intention is not for you to understand what I write, it’s for you to feel it.” Shazmin believes that volunteering is not just about transforming communities, but also about touching hearts and creating meaningful human connections.
