Claudine Gahongayire

Biography

Claudine Gahongayire is a Soil Science graduate from the University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM). She is passionate about sustainable agriculture, soil fertility management, waste management, and compost quality assessment.

Her professional experience includes internships with Bridge2Rwanda Farms and the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), where she supported conservation agriculture, soil testing, erosion control, and organic farming practices. She also leads community initiatives such as Women Partner in Development in Musanze District, empowering women and youth through kitchen gardening, soap-making, livestock keeping, and climate-smart agriculture.

Currently, Claudine serves as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Volunteer in Gicumbi District, where she applies Human-Centered Design (HCD), Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), and Community-Led Development (CLD) approaches to strengthen community integration and co-create sustainable solutions with rural communities. Her work focuses on empowering youth and women, promoting environmental awareness, and advancing inclusive participation in development.

Claudine is proud to carry a strong passion for contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in food security, poverty reduction, gender equality, and climate action. She remains committed to blending scientific knowledge with community values to foster sustainable change and lasting impact.
