Biography

Bernice Akwesi is a passionate and dedicated Food Scientist and emerging leader, holding a BSc in Food Science and Technology from the University for Development Studies. During her academic journey, she embraced leadership roles, first serving as her department’s Secretary in 2022 and later as General Assembly Speaker. For two years, she also fostered community spirit as the Music Directress for the National Union of Presbyterian Students–Ghana.

She is driven to apply her expertise to global challenges, a commitment recognized when she won the 2023 Fonio Bread Challenge for her innovative solution to nutrition issues. Bernice gained practical industry experience through a Mastercard Foundation-supported internship with the Global Shea Alliance, focusing on sustainable value chains.

Currently, she is building her research profile as a Research Assistant with the EduGa Institute for Social Development and has earned a certificate for participating in a six-week ALX Professional Development Skills program. Her goal is to channel her leadership, experience, and academic foundation into entrepreneurial ventures. Bernice is particularly interested in food product development, public health nutrition, and international development, seeking to apply her expertise to create tangible impacts on food security and social development in Ghana and beyond.

Bernice believes that CorpsAfrica will connect her to real grassroots development challenges and provide an opportunity to make a direct, meaningful impact.
