Biography

Merveille Umutoniwase is an innovator, and community development practitioner passionate about youth empowerment, mental health, and sustainability. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Rwanda, specializing in Bioorganic Chemistry. Currently, she serves as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer in Huye District, where she works with rural communities to identify challenges, co-create solutions, and promote sustainable development through an asset-based approach.

Merveille’s leadership journey includes serving as Vice Speaker of the University of Rwanda Student Union Board, Scholars’ Representative of the Mastercard Foundation at UR-CST, and founder of Sanga Inshuti, a peer support and mental health initiative created with Solid Minds Counselling Clinic. She also founded Biopol Rwanda, an entrepreneurial venture focused on bio-based environmental solutions.

Her experience spans the Rwanda Forensic Institute, mental health advocacy, and digital and technical training, including Full Stack Software Engineering with ALX. Recognized as a Peer Support Champion and Leader (2024–2025), Merveille continues to inspire others through mentorship and innovation, envisioning a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Africa.
