Biography
Vanessa Chimutu is a Human-Centered Design practitioner and facilitator with experience in designing and delivering participatory, user-centered trainings across Malawi and beyond. She currently works with the Human-Centered Design (HCD) Center as an HCD Manager, where she leads the development and facilitation of workshops that equip organizations, development partners, and community actors with practical tools to solve complex challenges using HCD approaches.
Her work focuses on integrating Human-Centered Design with approaches such as Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) and community-led development, ensuring that solutions are grounded in local context and driven by the people they are meant to serve. Vanessa has facilitated trainings for diverse groups, including health professionals, development practitioners, and emerging community leaders, creating spaces that encourage collaboration, creativity, and meaningful engagement.
She has contributed to initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes, particularly for vulnerable populations such as pregnant and breastfeeding women and adolescents, by applying HCD methodologies to strengthen service delivery and community systems. Through her work, she has collaborated with local and international partners, supporting the design and implementation of impactful, user-centered programs.
