Biography
Sembe is a dedicated advocate for human rights and community empowerment. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights from the University of Livingstonia and has consistently demonstrated her passion for uplifting young women and girls through education and mentorship. Since 2017, she has volunteered with Light Her Path Organisation, guiding adolescent girls in Ekwendeni, Mzimba district to develop leadership skills and confidence. Her commitment to feminist spaces is evident in her work as a junior researcher with Social Impact 360 International, where she contributed to documenting the Nhanga as an intergenerational feminist platform in Southern Africa.
Her professional journey also includes serving as a Disability and Elderly Rights intern at the Malawi Human Rights Commission, where she gained valuable experience in advocacy and policy. In 2022, she represented Malawi as a delegate for Fora Network for Change and currently serves as a SheLeader for African Matters Initiative, further amplifying her voice in regional and international platforms.
In 2023, Sembe joined CorpsAfrica as a Volunteer in Karonga district, where she successfully facilitated a community-led development project focused on constructing a nursery school. This initiative reflects her belief in sustainable development and the importance of working hand-in-hand with communities to achieve lasting impact. Looking ahead, she aspires to contribute to the professional growth of youth participating in the CorpsAfrica program, ensuring they gain meaningful skills and experiences that foster both personal and community development.
