Biography

In the cold season of Tikimt 1994 E.C., around 7:00 p.m., a little girl named Nafnat Sisay was born in Welenchiti, near Adama, as the second daughter of her family. Her mother chose the name “Nafnat,” connected with compassion and empathy, hoping her daughter would grow into someone who feels deeply for others. Today, Nafnat sees that her name has become more than just a label—it reflects the person she continues to become.

When she was three, her family moved to Adama, leaving behind the town where her earliest memories began. Although they had to start again, they carried something far more valuable: family, love, and hope. Nafnat grew up energetic, sociable, faithful, and hardworking, sharing a particularly strong bond with her older sister. Surrounded by her family’s love and support, she built the foundation for her dreams.

Nafnat earned her degree in Marketing Management from Wachamo University and later studied Accounting and Finance at World Bright College. Yet, she believes some of life’s greatest lessons came beyond the classroom. Life taught her patience, resilience, the courage to ask for help, and the strength to rise after disappointment.

Joining CorpsAfrica marked another pivotal chapter in her path. Through her service, Nafnat has grown more confident, courageous, and determined. She has learned to listen deeply, learn from others, and see challenges as opportunities for growth.

Today, Nafnat serves as a dedicated CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Volunteer in Molle Kebele, Mirab Abaya Woreda, working alongside the community on local initiatives. For her, service is not about arriving with all the answers, but about listening, learning, walking alongside people, and believing in their capacity to drive positive change.

The little girl who once could not imagine being away from her sister has grown into a woman who stands confidently on her own feet—guided by compassion, resilience, and a desire to make a meaningful difference.
