Biography
After completing her volunteer service with CorpsAfrica/Malawi, Masozi Kaunda chose to continue her journey in community-led development by joining CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia. Her decision was inspired by her experiences working alongside communities in Malawi and her growing belief in the power of Africans learning from, supporting, and building alongside one another across borders.
During her service in Malawi, Masozi worked closely with women, youth, and young girls, supporting community-led initiatives focused on improving livelihoods, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening community groups, and empowering women and girls to participate in decisions that affect their lives. Through these experiences, she learned that sustainable development begins with listening to communities, understanding their priorities, and supporting them to lead their own solutions.
Her journey also deepened her belief in Pan-Africanism—the idea that Africans can learn from one another by sharing knowledge, experiences, cultures, and solutions across borders. This belief encouraged her to step beyond her familiar environment and serve in another African country.
Today, Masozi is serving with CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia, where she is living and working alongside an Ethiopian community. Her experience has allowed her to learn from a different cultural and social context while bringing lessons from her service in Malawi. She believes that Africa’s greatest resource is its people and that meaningful development must be rooted in African communities and driven by Africans themselves.
For Masozi, volunteering is more than community service. It is an opportunity to serve, learn, connect, and contribute to a shared African future—one community at a time.
