Biography

Mbumba Simwaka is a Malawian medical doctor with a passion for community health, service, and creating meaningful change in underserved communities. She earned her MBBS from Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, where she developed a strong interest in healthcare and the ways in which social and community factors influence people’s health and well-being.

Beyond medicine, Mbumba is passionate about public health, women’s and children’s health, education, and community development. She believes that sustainable change begins by listening to communities, understanding their needs, and working alongside them to develop solutions that build on their existing strengths.

Mbumba is excited to join the CorpsAfrica cohort because she sees the experience as an opportunity to step beyond the clinical setting and better understand the communities she hopes to serve. She looks forward to learning from fellow volunteers, gaining new perspectives, developing her leadership and community development skills, and contributing meaningfully to a community in Malawi.

Outside of her professional interests, Mbumba enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new ideas and places, and learning new things. She is particularly excited about the opportunity to connect with other young Africans who share her commitment to service and to be part of a cohort working toward positive change in their communities.
