Biography

Chantal Bosco is a passionate young African woman with a strong interest in community development, youth empowerment, Information Technology, and social impact. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies with a focus on Information Technology at Saint Louis University. She also completed a one-year Certificate in Liberal Studies through XIM University, Bhubaneswar, India, in partnership with Jesuit Worldwide Learning. Her educational and professional journey has developed her interests in digital skills, research, data management, community engagement, and using technology and education to create opportunities for others.

Chantal has gained valuable experience working with communities, particularly young people and refugees. She has worked with There Is Hope, an organization that supports young women and men in developing practical skills and becoming more self-reliant. Through her work in the field, she supported the empowerment of young girls by helping them access skills and opportunities in areas such as tailoring, digital skills, and entrepreneurship. This experience strengthened her passion for youth empowerment, mentorship, community engagement, and helping young people build skills that can improve their livelihoods.

She has also served as a UNHCR Enumerator, where she developed valuable skills in data collection, interviewing, communication, accuracy, confidentiality, and working with diverse communities. Her experience as a refugee herself has given her a deeper understanding of the importance of listening to people, treating individuals with dignity, and creating opportunities for communities to become more resilient. Her work with communities has strengthened her ability to connect with people from different backgrounds and approach challenges with empathy and respect.

Chantal has also been actively involved with Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) as a Volunteer and Alumnus. As an alumni moderator, she helps mobilize and engage groups, encourages participation, and supports communication among members. Through this experience, she has developed skills in leadership, teamwork, facilitation, organization, and community mobilization. She has also gained experience as a Data Entry Assistant with Jesuit Refugee Services and as a Research Assistant with Jesuit Worldwide Learning, further developing her skills in data management, research, reporting, and digital tools.

Chantal is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for young people and supporting community led development. She believes that sustainable change begins with listening to communities, recognizing their strengths, and working alongside them to develop solutions that they can own and sustain.

Outside her professional and academic interests, Shantal enjoys taking walks, listening to music, learning new skills, and connecting with people. She is excited to join CorpsAfrica/Malawi Cohort 10 because she sees service as an opportunity to learn from communities while also contributing her skills and experiences. She looks forward to building meaningful relationships, strengthening her leadership and facilitation skills, supporting community-led initiatives, and contributing to sustainable solutions that create greater opportunities for individuals and communities.
