Biography
Janet Latse is a Public Health Promotion graduate from the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana, with a passion for sustainable community development, youth empowerment, and health equity. Her interest in community development has been shaped by her experiences in public health and grassroots initiatives, where she has seen the importance of involving communities in identifying their needs and shaping solutions that improve their lives.
During her service with CorpsAfrica/Ghana, Janet worked alongside community members to identify local strengths, understand community priorities, and support locally driven solutions. Through Asset-Based Community Development, Community-Led Development, and Human-Centred Design, she gained experience supporting initiatives in smart agriculture, economic empowerment, climate resilience, education, and youth development. These experiences strengthened her belief in the value of local knowledge, participation, and community ownership in creating lasting change.
Janet is now serving as an Exchange Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Malawi, where she is broadening her understanding of community development within a new cultural, social, and linguistic context. She is eager to learn from the communities she serves, build meaningful relationships, and share lessons from her experience in Ghana while remaining open to new perspectives and approaches.
Janet believes that communities possess the knowledge, strengths, and potential to lead their own development when given the opportunity and support to do so. Through her service in Malawi, she hopes to support communities in strengthening their livelihoods, achieving greater economic stability, and building resilience, while continuing to grow as a public health professional and community development practitioner.
