Abdelaziz Noujoum, Senior Field Coordinator for CorpsAfrica/Maroc, is a Moroccan youth activist who grew up in a rural village in southeast Morocco. Abdelaziz was president of the Discipline and Management Committee at the specialized Institute of Hotels and Tourism Technology (2005-2007). In 2006, Abdelaziz and other community leaders created an association aiming to encourage schooling in the rural areas. As a citizen journalist, he wrote and reported about several local, regional, and national issues. Abdelaziz contributed to the first draft of the National Advisory Council of Moroccan Youth in 2013. He was a member of the founder team of the “Let’s Learn Politics” program, which trained 40 Moroccan youth to participate in making public policies (2012-2014). In June 2014, Abdelaziz obtained a BA in communication and education, eight years after dropping out of school. Four months later, Abdelaziz started the journey of volunteering with CorpsAfrica/Maroc in a very rural area in the Chichaoua region, where he transformed a fragile large building into a multi-functional association house project. In December 2015, Abdelaziz traveled to Malawi and Senegal as a Human-Centered Design trainer, where he trained CorpsAfrica volunteers and community leaders. In June 2018, Abdelaziz obtained a Master’s degree in education. One month later, he travelled to United States for three months as the only Moroccan participant in the Leaders for Democracy fellowship program. At CorpsAfrica/Maroc, Abdelaziz is responsible for the executing projects and conducting workshops. He is passionate about helping, learning, and sharing with others to expand opportunity and ultimately make the world a better place.
