Meet the Fourth Group of CorpsAfrica Volunteers in Senegal

Liliane Djitom Assine is from Ziguinchor. She holds a Professional License in Business Management from the Catholic University of West Africa/ISCG in Ziguinchor. She participated in training in conflict resolution in schools and universities in 2012 with the Konrad Foundation in parallel with the Catholic Student Youth (JEC) of Oussouye. She is an investigative agent at the National Statistics and Demography Agency (ANSD) in Ziguinchor, which is responsible for the extension and revalidation of targeted households or beneficiaries of social grants.

Aboubacar Sadikh Ba holds a master's degree in Sociology with a specialty in international migration at the Gaston Berger University of Saint Louis in Senegal.
From a young age, he was interested in the living and working conditions of Senegalese. It is in this sense that he wrote works through themes of social action and development. In 2017, he did his case study for obtaining a Bachelor in Sociology on collective survival strategies and the migratory trajectories of young itinerant merchants in Dakar. Sadikh is also an entrepreneur who has managed to set up his own commercial activity through a shoe sales shop called 2S Shoes (Shop Sadikh Shoes) at the Colobane and Sandaga markets. Being a sociologist and entrepreneur, he has been very active in community life since he was a child and has led fights over social and civic activities in his neighborhood and at his university. He has written articles on resilience systems and strategies in remote communities and has participated in many conferences and panels to this end. He is in charge of social and human actions for a structure called AHADD VISION at Gaston Berger University working on civic, social and civic activities in Senegal. He is also the treasurer and external relations officer of BEST OF US, a club established at the UGB by USAID. Active in humanitarian activities, and aware of the state of his country, he joined CorpsAfrica/Senegal in 2019 and undertook to devote a year to acquire practical experience and share with Senegalese communities in order to build on the emergence and development of his nation.

Fatoumata Bintou Diédhiou is from Ziguinchor and a graduate in Private Law. Her community involvement began in 2015 when she volunteered at YMCA Ziguinchor as a carer for children who are in grades 4 to 6. In 2016, starting to take an interest in community development, she volunteered as part of a partnership that YCare International and YMCA Senegal focused on community development. After her license, being aware of the fact that she can be useful to her country, she decided to become a Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Senegal to help communities sometimes forgotten to develop on their own without expecting anything from others.

Mbayang DIENE is originally from the Diourbel region in central west Senegal.
She holds a diploma in engineering from Land Use Planning and Urban management at the School of Applied Economics (ESEA) in Dakar. Currently, she is at the end of her professional master's degree in Local Development Engineering from Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis. Her dream is to later become an entrepreneur in the agricultural sector with the establishment of a farm in her home village. She also hopes to become an independent local economic development consultant in a short time. She has stayed in several regions of the country, facilitated by the educational courses of the ESEA and the annual outings of the Network of Scholars and Former Scholars of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (of which she is a member), which works on the same themes as the Konrad Adenauer Foundation itself, namely democracy, peace and gender equality. During her student life at the ESEA, she worked on themes relating to the preservation of the environment through monthly cocktail debates, budding engineering competitions and through awareness activities carried out during the celebration of international environment day. She signed up as a CorpsAfrica/Senegal Volunteer to try to put her skills in local development into practice, capitalize on experiences with host communities in order to better prepare her professional career, and to better contribute to the development of her country.

Amadou Fall is originally from the Ziguinchor region. After his baccalaureate, he studied Geography at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar before moving on to another field. He holds a license in Management and Human Resources at the Dakar Business Administration Training Institute. He joined a lot of associations and citizen movements in order to make a contribution to the socio-economic development of his locality. This led him to join the municipality of Guinaw rails (suburb of Dakar) especially at the level of the management committee of floods for better management of disasters caused by rainwater, and also as a community relay. He participated in awareness campaigns and distribution of LLINs for the fight against malaria. Since 2014, he is a supervisor and member of the collectives of pupils and students of Guinaw rails, where he gave lessons to young people in order to strengthen their academic and academic level. Since January 2019, his associative life has intensified thanks to SYJEG (Synergy of Young Engaged from Guinaw Rails North), being in charge of the training and education commission, he  successfully organized a patronage for 20 days in collaboration with the association of supervisors of educational communities in Senegal, giving more than 100 children the chance to thrive while learning during the holidays. Also in the educational aspect, he was recently appointed a member of the pedagogical commission of the CGE (School Management Committee) Barack de Guinaw Rails Nord. In addition, he is a member of the municipal youth council of Guinaw rails.
Despite a fairly acceptable journey, he always wanted to go beyond his municipality to widen his field of action and experiences. He hopes CorpAfrica will give him a huge chance to fulfill his passion, to make himself useful at the national level.

Bandagne FALL is a work engineer in Agronomic Sciences, specialized in Animal Production and Animal Husbandry and a Master 2 Agrobusiness student at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis. She is also the National Commissioner for the Promotion of Women of the Association of Girl Scouts of Senegal, which is a scout-type organization belonging to WOSM (World Organization of Scout Movements).
Having already had to coordinate a community project for students in non-electrified rural areas in the regions of Diourbel (Boulidiama) and Dakar (Tivaouane Peul), she is very honored to be a Volunteer at CorpsAfrica/Senegal to meet this new challenge of serving a community for a year and helping them carry their local development. She is very interested in the discovery and especially the sharing of practices and knowledge and the cultural exchange that she could gain in return as a Volunteer.

Ndeye Penda Fall was born in Pire in the department of Tivaouane, region of Thiès. After obtaining her baccalaureate in 2015, she enrolled at Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor where she obtained a BA in sociology. During her studies she had to do an internship at the AEMO in Ziguinchor, whose role is the protection of minors in danger. Being a volunteer first aid worker at the Red Cross, today Ndeye Penda Fall is fully committed to being a CorpsAfrica Volunteer to serve her community. She thanks CorpsAfrica for giving her the chance to participate in the development of her country. "Volunteer one day and volunteer forever" is her motto.

Lamine Faty lives in Dakar/Malika. He comes from a Mandingo family where his parents instilled in him cardinal values ​​such as the spirit of sharing, courage, selflessness and above all assistance toward others. The family education he received made him a person very sensitive to the suffering experienced by some Senegalese men and women. To this end, he very early engaged in sustainable development issues to make a contribution to the building. Thus, Lamine participated in civic activities, not only to realize this dream that animates it but also to fulfill his duty as a young Senegalese citizen. He did his graduate studies in Local Government Law at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis. He also graduated in Public Management at the YALI-Dakar leadership center. Currently, he is the administrator of the YALI Network on Health and Development. Lamine is also an alumni of Eqwiphubs, a Canadian NGO. He sees CorpsAfrica as a great opportunity and a privileged way to actively participate in the community development process.
With CorpsAfrica, he can state unequivocally that all young African leaders will be able to provide a solution to the problems of the rural world.

Aminta Faye is from Fatick. She spent her entire school career in Dakar. She trained in English at Cheikh Anta Diop University in License 1 where she stopped, but that did not allow her to stop learning because she participates in inter-university debates. Currently, she is pursuing training in International Development Cooperation at the African Institute for Development Studies in the third year of her bachelor's degree. Her training allowed her to do an internship in a development NGO called ECO / PN (Espace de Concertation et d'Orientation de Pikine Nord) where she had to carry out various activities with women and local authorities. She is also part of an association called ASDDT (Association of Specialists in Decentralization and Territorial Development). She was sent by the NGO Enda / Ecopop through the association ASDDT as a community relay to support local authorities during the second edition of the Excellence Award for Local Leadership. She likes to cook, play sports, help others, and discover new things. She chose to volunteer at CorpsAfrica in order to acquire more skills, serve her country, share her knowledge, and also learn from others in order to positively impact communities and participate in the emergence of Senegal.

Maryam Banel Batul Faye was an undergraduate student in Legal and Political Science at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis. She also studied for a Bachelors in International Development Cooperation at the African Institute for Development Studies in Dakar. Since her childhood, she participated in youth movements such as the Red Cross in which she was a girl scout. After her Baccalaureate, she began to join associations working for the empowerment of women. In 2017, she set up a clothing line called Women Africa ("WA"), which aimed to enhance traditional African fabrics. Maryam believes very strongly in entrepreneurship and is active in this field. She has co-founded an association called "the future, it is us," which is essentially composed of young people and her main objective is to make them aware of how to use new technologies and to understand its misdeeds. Through this association, she wants to encourage young people to awaken their leadership and have confidence in themselves. She is also active in the enhancement movements of black skin, which fights against artificial depigmentation. Maryam considers that her career does not make her the one I want to become but being a CorpsAfrica / Senegal Volunteer, she will be able to develop leadership talents and also to know how to manage and team working. Being a CorpsAfrica/Senegal Volunteer will allow her to participate in the development not only of a community but also to have the prerequisites to claim to contribute to the development of other African communities.

Papa Sanou FAYE is from the Fatick region, more precisely in the village of Kalom, Commune of Ngayokhème, Arrondissement of Niakhar. He is a specialist in Local Development Engineering and Geographic Information System at the Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis in 2016. He previously studied English and holds a bachelor's degree. He also passed a certificate in project design and monitoring & evaluation in Economics and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources in Environmental Law and Protection with the Institute of La Francophonie for Sustainable Development. His professional career has been much more oriented towards community development, particularly with the Regional Directorate of Community Development. He worked with more than 30 groups of women and young people in support of local economic development (fight against poverty and protection of vulnerable groups) with the establishment of 30 income-generating micro-projects in various sectors with the support of PIDES / PADESS.
Pape Sanou is also co-founder of an association in 2017 called "Nguelmaak Né Kalom," which is active in economic, social and environmental development in his native village. He initiated with his peers reforestation activities in the village, sports (football tournaments), school support (donations of school supplies). Today, as a Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Senegal, he sets himself the objective to serve his host community and have a lasting and positive impact on their experience through the enhancement of their socioeconomic potentials and their participation.

Bara Kamara lives in Dakar and graduated in Community Development Engineering and Training (DECOF) at the Higher School of Applied Economics (ESEA) and holds a License in Economic Science and Management; management of agricultural businesses and animal and plant production. He is affiliated with several associations and structures working for the protection of children and women such as APE Africa (Association for the Protection of Children) of which he is in charge of projects and programs and RFI (Network of the Independent Women) of the Plots Rehabilitated. After various interventions in several areas such as health, education and child protection, he wanted to get out of his comfort zone to integrate the world of volunteering for the promotion of local development. He joined CorpsAfrica/Senegal as a Volunteer to serve a community for a year to fight poverty and facilitate community development in his country.

Fatoumata Bintou MASSALY lives in Ouagou Niayes. She graduated from Ensup Africa in Business and Tax Law. She is also the president of the African Network of Adolescents and Young Girls ("AfriYAN Girls"), which works on issues of promotion and empowerment of girls in Senegal. Fatou Bintou is very involved in the fight over the right to education of girls and the importance for them to benefit from sexual and reproductive health services, to have work opportunities to ensure their autonomy. Thanks to this commitment, she has developed attitudes of sharing, solidarity, listening, understanding and helping others. For Fatou Bintou, it is a pleasure to join the CorpsAfrica/Senegal community in order to put her experience and aptitude at the service of the girls and women of her host community, to help them become aware of their role and their importance in communities and families, but especially to learn from them.

Mouhamadou MBAYE is from Dakar. He is a young entrepreneur with a Bachelor's degree in economics and management from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar.
For more than five years, he was actively involved in community life. In fact, he is a member of three associations operating distinctly in the education, youth employment and community development sectors. His commitment to volunteering with CorpsAfrica/Senegal is mainly motivated by a spirit of sharing and mutual aid but also by his feeling of accountability to his nation. Through this volunteer mission, he hopes to learn and discover new things while serving the community.

Marie Madeleine MENDY is a native of Guinea-Bissau and had her childhood there. She joined Senegal in the Ziguinchor Region for her school education and obtained her Bachelor Degree in Administrative Management at the Higher Institute of Management (ISM) Ziguinchor in 2015 before embarking on entrepreneurship in 2017. She was selected for training in the YALI program. Marie Madeleine was also part of an association called "FRIENDS OF THE PRISON" in the Ziguinchor Region. She discovered CorpsAfrica and decided to commit to a volunteer mission once again, to serve her nation and participate in the development of the country. She also hopes to acquire knowledge and gain experience both in social and professional life by interacting with rural populations.

Ousmane Ndiaye obtained his baccalaureate and was oriented at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences. After two years in this faculty, he dropped out to join the professional world. He first worked as a social worker in an association helping children in distress for six months. Then he evolved for four years within the Tourist Village of FESPOP de Louga as cashier and sales manager. In January 2019, he resigned to focus definitively on entrepreneurship, an area in which he feels comfortable. During this time also he had to work as a community relay at the time of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Then as a Spanish-speaking tourist guide, which allowed him to discover the interior of the country early. He also worked as an investigator in the account of LARTES / IFAN (Laboratory for Study and Research on Economic and Social Transformations) and was an Election Violence Monitor for six months with the Gorée Institute. He collaborated with the Kid’s Funny Birds Club in Marina Bay where he work during long and short holidays as a children's instructor among others. He was trained by the school of scouting especially by its method of learning by action. He got involved early in volunteering and served many times mostly through scouting. He is also an instructor of the educational community and an educator pair on reproductive health and volunteer at the SOS Village of Louga as part of their family strengthening program. He joined CorpsAfrica because being a young person aware of the many problems linked to the development of our dear Senegal, he urgently needs to worry about solutions and participate actively from the bottom up. So his motivation to serve is to participate in the building of the development of our country but also to learn more in a practical way with communities and CorpsAfrica. Just to say, "Serve and serve".

Marie Celestine SAGNA is from Ziguinchor. She graduated from I.A.D.L (African Institute for Local Development) in Local Governance and Territorial Development. She is also an Agent of Change and Ambassador of YMCA Senegal volunteers to train in South Africa on juvenile justice and youth citizenship in Senegal. Her involvement in associative movements has opened the door to many things and has enabled her to carry out advocacy activities on the conditions of young people in conflict with the law and young people at risk. Indeed, Marie Célestine has worked extensively with civil society organizations on issues related to women's social entrepreneurship and juvenile justice. She has led projects such as an advocacy campaign focused on the social reintegration of minors released from THIES MAC, a project to fight for the empowerment of women in Senegal, etc. It was through these activities that she discovered the passion for volunteering. This passion determined her choice to join the CorpsAfrica/Senegal family for a transformative experience.

Aissata Sarr holds a Bachelor's degree in business law at the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar and has trained as a business assistant at the Confucius Institute at UCAD and as an instructor for educational communities. He is a commercial entrepreneur and followed training sessions with an entrepreneurial spirit with the Eqwiphubs-YMCA Dakar program and the ADEPME. He is very active in the associative movements of his village on the student side as well as on the youth side. He joined CorpsAfrica to serve his community, learn from it and enhance himself by applying the lessons received during Pre Service Training and throughout his immersion.

Maodo Sylla is originally from Dakar. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 2011 and joined the Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis to take a BA in Applied Foreign Languages (English / Arabic) and a master's degree in Local Development Engineering (option: governance territorial). By integrating the professional development community through the planning division of ARD Dakar, Maodo also obtained a certificate in applied geomatics from the Sabdarifa Group. In February 2019, he joined the firm African Millenium Leaders as a trainer in animation of community development and in management of development projects. Today he is volunteering in the fourth cohort of CorpsAfrica/Senegal to serve his country, Senegal.
