Biography
Barahanatu Alhassan is a Mechanical Engineer, mentor, facilitator, and emerging agribusiness entrepreneur from Ghana. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her professional experience spans power generation, industrial operations, maintenance, engineering, and field research.
Beyond her technical background, Barahanatu is passionate about leadership, mentorship, youth development, and creating opportunities for women and girls. She has served in various leadership and volunteer roles, supporting initiatives in education, STEM, personal development, and community empowerment. She is also building a livestock enterprise, driven by her interest in agriculture and her desire to create sustainable opportunities for young people, particularly women.
Joining CorpsAfrica is an important part of Barahanatu’s journey of growth and self-discovery. She is looking forward to experiencing life in a new community, learning from people whose backgrounds and experiences may differ from her own, and discovering new ways of understanding service and development. While she hopes to contribute her skills and energy to her host community, she also embraces the opportunity to be a learner. She believes the relationships, challenges, and lessons from this year will shape not only how she serves others, but also who she becomes.
