Biography

Yetmwork Kibru Ayele is a dedicated Water Supply and Environmental engineer currently volunteering in Semen Kege Kebele, in the Dale Woreda of the Central Sidama Zone. Born and raised in Arba Minch, Yetmwork is the eldest daughter in her family, growing up alongside two brothers. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a doctor to treat patients equally and watch them heal. While her career path shifted, that core desire to care for others evolved into a passion for environmental health, sanitation, and community wellbeing. She completed both her primary and secondary education at Chamo Primary and Secondary School in Arba Minch town.

Driven by a commitment to sustainable development, Yetmwork earned a Bachelor of Science in Water Supply and Environmental Engineering in 2022, followed by a Master of Science in Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering in 2025 from Arba Minch University. During her university years, she demonstrated strong leadership and advocacy skills, serving as Vice President of the Student Union for three years. Before transitioning to her current community work, Yetmwork served as an Environmentalist at Kodo Coal Mining PLC, managing environmental safety and site rehabilitation.

Today, as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, she is dedicating the coming year to facilitating grassroots development in the Sidama region. Yetmwork combines her deep personal commitment to community empowerment with technical expertise in spatial data analysis, water quality modeling, and human-centered design to help rural communities implement sustainable, community-owned solutions.
