Biography

Born and raised in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, Elda Girma began her educational journey at Alpha Keranyo Primary School for her elementary education and Lideta Catholic Cathedral School for her high school education. She holds a BSc in Software Engineering from Addis Ababa University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Leadership, which she expects to complete in 2027.

Growing up in a family that valued her opinions and gave her the freedom to make her own choices, Elda developed a strong sense of independence and curiosity. She was also fortunate to be surrounded by supportive friends who encouraged her at every step of her journey.

After university, Elda worked as a Junior Financial Auditor at HST Consulting PLC for 10 months, following an internship where she completed technical accounting courses. She has also volunteered as a tutor at Zewditu Meshesha Orphanage Center and has three years of experience as a freelance document translator and proofreader with YLocalize.

Elda believes in continuous learning and has completed leadership training, Financial AI, and data analysis programs through local organizations in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. She is particularly passionate about women, education, and sports and hopes to use her skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully in these areas.

After completing 6 weeks of intensive Pre-Service Training, Elda is now serving as a Group 4 Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia in the Gamo Zone. Having spent most of her life in Addis Ababa, she has long wanted to experience and learn from the realities of communities outside the city. Through her year of service, she hopes to build genuine relationships with the community, learn from its people, and contribute to sustainable solutions that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.
