Biography

Amulike Brown Msiska is a passionate community development enthusiast from Karonga District, Malawi, with a strong interest in gender equality, youth and women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and agribusiness. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Gender Studies from the University of Malawi, which strengthened his understanding of community development, social inclusion, gender equality, and the empowerment of vulnerable populations. Growing up in a rural community has given him a deep appreciation of the challenges and opportunities experienced by rural communities and inspired his passion for contributing to sustainable development.

Amulike gained practical experience as a Gender and Development Officer Intern at Karonga District Council from July 2025 to June 2026. During his internship, he participated in community engagement, stakeholder coordination, gender-based violence data collection and analysis, data management, report writing, and community awareness activities. These experiences strengthened his communication, facilitation, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills while teaching him the importance of listening to communities and working with them to address issues affecting their lives.

From 2022 to 2024, Amulike served as a Mentor Volunteer with the Strengthening Higher Education Access in Malawi Activity (SHEAMA), where he facilitated discussions with students and teachers, encouraged participation, coordinated meetings, and documented activities. He has also undertaken training in Community-Based Inclusive Development, Comprehensive Sexuality Education, and the Minimum Initial Service Package for Sexual and Reproductive Health in humanitarian settings.

Amulike is particularly passionate about agribusiness and entrepreneurship, which he views as important pathways to food security, income generation, employment, and sustainable livelihoods in rural communities. He is developing his own agribusiness initiative and hopes to use the knowledge and experience gained through community work and CorpsAfrica to contribute to economic empowerment and locally driven development.

He is excited to join CorpsAfrica/Malawi Cohort 10 to learn from communities, collaborate with local stakeholders and fellow Volunteers, and facilitate community efforts to identify and implement sustainable solutions to local challenges. Outside his professional interests, he enjoys watching football and reading.
