My name is Wuday Ceesay, and I’m a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies. I’m an individual with a deep passion for community development and social work; thus, I studied Development Studies for my undergraduate degree at the University of The Gambia.
My educational background in Development Studies has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive impact in communities. This is further evident in my various experiences, including working with different organizations and projects that focus on community development and social services that touch the lives of vulnerable and underdeveloped communities.
One of my notable experiences was serving as an impartial witness at the Medical Research Council Unit in The Gambia under the new polio vaccine project. This role allowed me to work closely with women and their babies. In addition to this, I did an internship with MRC in the facilities Department which provided me experience in managing campus services and facilities related things. Which contributed greatly to my growth
My passion and commitment to making a difference in communities and social impacts led me to join the National Youth Scheme Graduate Program (NYSGP). Through this program, I was deployed to the Ministry of Lands and Religious Affairs, where I worked under the Department of Community Development. In this role, I was posted to Somita in Foni.. It was there that I collaborated with various stakeholders such as women, village development committees, and youth groups to promote community development.
This experience solidified my knowledge of communities and social service and has made me a resourceful development agent. My greatest joy is seeing women and all rural communities thrive, succeed, and enjoy equal economic opportunities and rights. Thus, I believe that community development is the key to creating better sustained future for all
Over all these years, my professional and academic testament is my passion for social work and community development. This is the area and field I enjoy most, and my experiences and dedication to making a positive impact serve as an inspiration to others in the field.
I commit myself to continue making a significant difference in the lives of women and communities with little social growth and benefits, and I hope to fulfill most of this goal by working with Corps Africa.
