Biography
Bahiru Abebe Damot is a dedicated Materials Science and Engineering graduate from Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, with a deep passion for sustainable energy materials, computational materials science, and aerospace engineering. Throughout his time at the university, he actively contributed in multiple roles supporting academic clubs, leading student initiatives, and collaborating on research-driven projects that fostered innovation, problem-solving, and peer learning. His academic achievements include award-winning research on nanomaterials characterization, UV-Vis spectroscopy applications, and eco-friendly wastewater treatment using banana peels from textile industry effluents. Bahiru has also gained practical industry experience through internships at the Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise and Ethioplastic Industry, specializing in quality control, product testing, and compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 19011 and other standards. Driven by a strong commitment to service, he volunteered with the Education for Needy People Association – Amba (ENPA-Amba), assisting teachers in delivering lessons and supporting the educational needs of underprivileged students. Currently, as a Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia, he works with rural communities to design and implement sustainable, high-impact projects that enhance livelihoods, strengthen climate resilience, and inspire local innovation. Bahiru envisions a career at the intersection of advanced materials, green technologies, and aerospace engineering—leveraging AI, simulations, and automation to develop sustainable solutions that contribute to global technological progress and Ethiopia’s development.
