Biography
Ecla Gwahala is a Medical Social Worker, Community Development Enthusiast and Project Manager. As an advocate for human rights and social justice, she’s focused on human welfare, promoting the value of human life and alleviating suffering through empathy, compassion and altruistic action. She derives great joy in equality and serving humanity. In her 5years of experience, she has served as a volunteer at Compassion International, implementing programs on child protection, Sponsor relation and youth empowerment.
She also worked at Muran’ga District Hospital, where she offered psychosocial assessment and counselling to patients with social challenges like GBV, FGM, HIV/AIDS, PTSD and other mental health issues. She has dedicated her service as a Facilitator at the CorpsAfrica/Kenya, using the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) model, Human Centered Design (HCD) Community Led Development (CLD) Models to ensure the sustainability of the impacted lives in her community.
The mission and vision of CorpsAfrica strongly align with her personal goals. She yearns for a future where communities will embrace Capacity Building and be fully Independent. She thanks CorpsAfrica for giving youths a platform to learn, integrate and work with different communities to create sustainable development, which aspires for a future where volunteerism is not overlooked but rather fully owned and appreciated for a transformative future.
