Biography

Tolhatu Issah is a Food Scientist, social entrepreneur, product developer, and community development practitioner passionate about creating practical solutions to food insecurity, unemployment, post-harvest losses, and environmental challenges.

She is the Founder of Grainwell Enterprise, a women- and youth-led food processing venture in Northern Ghana that transforms locally sourced soybeans and other agricultural products into nutritious, affordable value-added foods. She is also a co-founder of DeliMush Limited Company, which transforms locally sourced fresh mushrooms into products such as canned mushrooms, mushroom spaghetti, and mushroom biscuits to help reduce post-harvest losses in the vegetable industry.

Tolhatu has extensive grassroots volunteering experience. As a Community Engagement Volunteer with The Assistance Hub, she travelled to communities across the Northern Region, delivering entrepreneurship and capacity-building training to community members. With AppCyclers, she trained young people and women in plastic recycling and upcycling for environmental sustainability and livelihood creation. She volunteered with Smile for Speech, supporting people with speech impairments, cerebral palsy, and stammering, and with Talking Tips Africa, where she supported data collection on speech and communication difficulties.

She brings together food science, entrepreneurship, community engagement, training, and volunteerism to create inclusive and sustainable solutions with measurable social impact.
