Biography
Charity Issifu is serving as a Volunteer in the 5th Cohort of CorpsAfrica/Ghana, currently placed in the Sakoya community in the Northern Region. She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), where she is currently a graduate student and academic researcher. Her thesis examines catalytic capital and its role in advancing young women’s agricultural enterprises in Ghana, with market access as a key moderating factor. Alongside her own research, she supports other UCC students and researchers with thesis and protocol writing.
Charity’s passion for rural community development is rooted in her own upbringing in Zebilla, in Ghana’s Upper East Region, an underserved community whose challenges shaped her commitment to grassroots change. She completed her National Service as a Teaching Assistant at UCC’s Department of Economic Studies and has prior volunteer experience with the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana, where she worked on issues affecting girls in the Bawku West District.
In Sakoya, Charity is implementing the CorpsAfrica Ghana New Model, which targets youth to leverage their existing skills and community assets for income-generating activities through community financing and input credit. Her research interests span agricultural enterprise development, financial inclusion, gender and rural development, and educational outcomes in Ghana, and she hopes her service will bridge research and policy insight with direct, lasting community impact.
