Biography

Jerome Andrew Jumbe is a young and dedicated man with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). After graduating, he partnered with Alpha-Agro Consultancy and conducted a series of livestock production and least-cost feed formulation training sessions under the Small and Medium-Scale Livestock Production Improvement Initiative.

He is passionate about improving the livelihoods of rural and marginalised communities. He believes in using participatory approaches to amplify community voices and generate evidence that informs inclusive programming and bridges the gap between policy and practice.

Jerome has worked as a Field Supervisor at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), a Lead Field Consultant for Malawi at Includovate, and a Data Management Consultant at CADECOM. He has also completed internships at Bunda College as a Technician in Introduction to Livestock Production and at the Central Veterinary Laboratory as a Laboratory Technician.

These roles equipped him with skills in stakeholder and community engagement and coordination, operations and logistics management, qualitative and quantitative research, participatory action research methodologies, and data collection and analysis. His jovial nature and ability to bond easily with people help him build strong personal connections with the people he works with and the communities he serves.

His desire to deliver innovative solutions to address the tangible challenges faced by rural and marginalised communities led him to join CorpsAfrica as a Volunteer.

Living among rural communities will help Jerome develop a deeper understanding of the challenges they face, build empathy, and strengthen his problem-solving skills. This experience will enable him to co-create authentic and lasting change alongside communities. It also offers him an excellent opportunity for personal development and a platform to advance his professional career.
