Biography
Kardiatou Ka is a dedicated community development practitioner, social innovator, and advocate for sustainable development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Madiba Leadership Institute (ISM Group) and is certified in political leadership by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Her passion for youth empowerment and gender equality began during her high school years through volunteer work with AMFE, where she contributed to efforts to prevent girls from dropping out of school. In 2024, her leadership potential was recognised when she was selected for the “Ailes pour Elles – Ambassadrice d’Un Jour” mentorship programme, where she was mentored by Her Excellency Ms. Juliette John, former UK Ambassador to Senegal.
Kardiatou served as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer in the rural community of Fouta, Senegal, where she led impactful grassroots projects. During her service, she championed social and educational inclusion by leading literacy classes for women and out-of-school girls, facilitating a civil registration campaign for undocumented children, and supporting women’s economic empowerment. To address local environmental and economic challenges, she trained community members in producing eco-friendly charcoal and improved cookstoves. As her primary project, she successfully co-designed and led the “Ndox mooy dundu” (Water is Life) initiative, establishing a mini-borehole system to promote sustainable access to clean drinking water.
Outside her community work, Kardiatou is passionate about cross-cultural exchange, learning new languages, watching football, and connecting with nature while discovering new places and cultures.
Driven by her commitment to community-led development and cross-border collaboration, Kardiatou is excited to join the CorpsAfrica/Malawi Exchange Programme. She looks forward to sharing her field experience, learning alongside local communities, and drawing on her adaptable background to co-create sustainable, long-term solutions that foster growth and opportunity.
