Biography
Symon Alex Kamwendo is a results-driven Land Management and Real Estate professional with a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Management, specializing in Real Estate Management, from Mzuzu University (MZUNI). He also holds certifications in Data Science for Research and Institutional Intelligence, GIS and Remote Sensing, Organizational Development and Management, Theology and Practical Ministry, as well as Research Data Collection, Transcription, Entry, and Analysis.
Before joining CorpsAfrica, Symon gained valuable hands-on experience as a Government Intern at Zomba City Council’s Estates Management and Town Planning Office, where he supported the office with practical insights into urban development, land use planning, sustainable infrastructure, land lease management, and property valuation. He also worked with Valuations Africa as a Property Scout, Oxfam as a Data Collector under the Gender Transformative Climate Resilience Initiatives for Malawi and Mozambique, the Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) under the Let Girls Learn II project, and One Acre Fund Malawi as a Farmers’ Trainer. These experiences equipped him with practical expertise in real estate management, community development, and engagement.
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Symon has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills, holding multiple leadership positions during his time at university and leading community-focused initiatives in his professional roles. These experiences strengthened his abilities in team coordination, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making.
With proficiency in building design and modelling software (AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, Revit), spatial data management and analysis tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, ArcGIS Pro), and statistical software (SPSS, STATA), he combines technical skills with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Passionate about sustainable development, real estate innovation, and urban planning, Symon aspires to contribute to shaping inclusive, functional, and resilient communities through his work. As a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, Symon is most excited about applying his knowledge and skills to support community-driven development, while learning from diverse perspectives and making a tangible impact in the lives of local communities.
