Biography

Kubananabandi Wilson is a passionate development practitioner and emerging agricultural engineer dedicated to advancing sustainable livelihoods, youth empowerment, and community transformation in Rwanda. With a strong academic foundation and practical field experience, he blends technical expertise in irrigation and drainage engineering with a deep commitment to participatory community development.

Currently, Wilson is serving with CorpsAfrica/Rwanda as a Volunteer. In this role, he collaborates closely with community members, particularly youth, to promote a saving culture, encourage teamwork, strengthen collaboration, and mobilize participation in public works. His service also focuses on fighting malnutrition, enhancing food security, and supporting households in improving their overall livelihoods. Known as a good listener, a catalyst for change, and a facilitator, Wilson empowers communities to design and own their solutions, fostering resilience and sustainable impact.

Wilson also pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Irrigation and Drainage at the University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Animal Science, and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM). His academic journey has been enriched by practical training and internships, including roles as an Irrigation Engineer Intern at the Water Users Organization (WUO) in Bugarama, Rusizi District, and at COPRORIKI (Cooperative for the Promotion of Rice Cultivation in Kizura). These professional experiences strengthened his skills in irrigation and drainage infrastructure, project analysis, farm technology application, and maintenance of agricultural systems.

At the heart of Wilson’s vision is a commitment to bridging agricultural innovation with community-driven solutions. He believes that sustainable development requires not only technology but also empowered communities that can lead their own progress. His career ambition is to contribute meaningfully to organisations that focus on poverty alleviation, food security, environmental sustainability, and youth empowerment.

By integrating his academic expertise, community service, leadership background, and personal values, Wilson represents a new generation of young African leaders ready to transform challenges into opportunities for resilience and growth. He aspires to continue serving as a facilitator, innovator, and advocate, driving social and economic transformation for vulnerable communities in Rwanda and beyond
