Biography
Yonas Mekonnen is a committed community development practitioner with a solid academic foundation and diverse field experience. Born in Kemissie City, in the Amhara Region’s Oromia Special Zone, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management from Wolaita Sodo University, graduating with the highest academic distinction on December 22, 2023 (G.C.).
He has actively contributed to community service in various capacities. As a Youth Leader with Positive Action for Development (PAD), Yonas guided and mentored young people, facilitating their transition into the workforce and fostering leadership and positive engagement for six months. He also volunteered with Compassion of Ethiopia at the Full Gospel Church, supporting social programs that benefit vulnerable groups.
Professionally, Yonas served in the Ethiopian Statistical Service as a Supervisor for one year, overseeing data collection, organization, and reporting. At the Kemissie Town Land Administration Office, he carried out cadastral projects, including parcel demarcation, boundary identification, document collection and verification, and GIS mapping. In addition, he has completed Entrepreneurship and Business Management Skills Training and holds a certificate from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI).
Currently, Yonas is a CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Group Three Volunteer, applying his leadership skills, technical expertise, and dedication to sustainable development to implement impactful projects in partnership with local communities.
Driven by a passion for service and development, Yonas combines academic excellence, practical skills, and grassroots experience to create sustainable and lasting change.
