Biography

Fanta Minteh is a CorpsAfrica Volunteer and social development practitioner with a strong passion for community-led development and sustainable social change. She holds a second-class Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Development Studies from the University of The Gambia.

During her academic journey, Fanta demonstrated dedication, discipline, and academic excellence, earning the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Scholarship. Alongside her studies, she actively engaged in leadership and community service through the Social Science Students’ Association, where she participated in youth engagement, community outreach, and development-focused initiatives. She also served as a youth representative of Bundung Ka Kunda Community, contributing to programs aimed at addressing local needs and strengthening community participation.

Fanta gained practical field experience through a Participatory Rural Appraisal organized by the University of The Gambia Participatory Social Science Research Association. This field-based research strengthened her skills in community engagement, data collection, teamwork, and participatory development approaches by working directly with rural communities.

Following graduation, Fanta joined the National Youth Graduate Program and was among the program’s Ambassadors. She was deployed to the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs as an intern within the Directorate of Local Governance, where she supported monitoring and evaluation activities in collaboration with local government councils. She also interned at the Ministry of Finance under the Directorate of Development Planning, contributing to the coordination, guidance, and monitoring of national development initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable growth.

As a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, Fanta is committed to empowering communities through locally driven initiatives that foster inclusivity, sustainability, and long-term impact.
