Biography
Alex Mugire was born and raised in Uganda before moving to Rwanda in 2016 to pursue his studies. In 2024, he graduated from the University of Rwanda-CST with a degree in Environmental Planning. As a dedicated geographer with a strong passion for understanding the connections between people, places, and the environment, he has gained knowledge in analyzing spatial patterns, sustainable land use, and incorporating geospatial technologies into environmental management.
Beyond technical skills, Alex values the human side of geography—working with communities, listening to local perspectives, and participatory approaches to planning. This combination of scientific knowledge and social engagement has shaped him into a geographer committed to supporting sustainable development, especially in Rwanda and across Africa.
As an aspiring professional, Alex aims to apply his geographical knowledge in roles that connect research, policy, and fieldwork. His long-term goal is to support innovative planning strategies that balance human development with environmental conservation, helping ensure resilient and fair futures for communities.
